It's a far cry from using a brightly colored ball captured by a camera to making a Nintendo style wiimote. That has a ball on top.
If you then add the fact that Sony just showed Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort copies, then it looks less and less like they are doing anything other than what Nintendo already did, 4 years earlier.
Verdict: It's a direct copy.
Prognosis: Without innovative games it will flop hard.
