I haven't finished FFXIII yet, but so far I like it much better than FFXII. The characters are better, gameplay is better, pretty much everything about XIII is better than XII.

Is the Yagyu Darkblade really better for that? I would have figured the Masamune if your strength was high enough.
My wife used the "no HP + Masamune + Genji Glove = murdered Yiazmat" setup

Loool, you know how long it would take me to find the specific quotes on the faqs and look at all the strategies there in order to give you that personalized answer? At least, it would take me way over 10 minutes.
But I see that you're skeptical, that's cool. I'll have a picture of my saved games here in a few days when I get back to my PS2. I don't have anything to prove, yet we're talking about my second favourite FF of all time. I hate when people call me a liar on this, as I probably know more about FFXII than I know about any other FF, barring FF6.

Masamune is good too, but in order to output the same damage that the Yagryu's did, you need to be close to the top strength available. I did both Yiazmat and Zodiark at level 80, so the difference was significative.
Yagryu's being Ninja Swords, had the innate Dark-elemental from which Yiazmat was vulnerable to, so it ensured me constant maximum damage for all my party members.

That's true, and I remember that ninja blades have inherently higher combo rates (though not as high as the Masamune), but does the Genji Glove enhance combo rates for ninja blades?

Yep, the combo rate for masamune was higher than Yagyu's. Ninja blades were fixed at 22%, but Masamune had a 40% rate that was upped to 70% when you equipped the Genji Gloves. They also rose the combo rate of Yagyu's, to the equivalent of the normal combo rate of Masamune. Also, Haste played a significant role in upping your combo rate.
So, with Masamune + Genji Gloves + Haste = almost always do high count combos (12); Yagyu's + Genji Gloves + Haste = Do moderatly high combo rates (8-10). Other party members were stuck with only Yagyu's and Haste, but I always did at least over 4 hits per combo, which rounded a sweet 40K damage to Yiazmat.

Oh really? I thought the number of hits you did was determined by the percentage of your health you had! So if you were on the edge of death, the combos you did would always be insane.

Your where the first calling me a liar when I mentioned the 170 hours (which isn't strange at all) and if I google Yiazmat + auto-haste + genji I find similar results.
Every FF can be finished in a short amount of time, and at Neogaf there are some guy's who where able to finish FFXII/ reach Vayne under 15 hours, so everything is possible, but for most mortals it will take way more time than time and I don't find it fun to play that way at all.
The fact is that FFXII is a bigger game than FFXIII, and for some reason some FFXIII fans ended up being offended by this.

is there any proof to FFXII being a bigger game? like have you done absolutely everything in both games and compared the time taken, which isnt very scientific but could give an answer.
on the Neogaf point, usually if a strategy works multiple will work it out and thus use the same method, and when wrote down it will most likely sound similar.
