Just like Nintendo will be embarrassed when they go HD!

Innovation at its finest...

We did HD like what 4-5 years go?

We are doing motion controls now, Nintendo needs to move on and go HD.

Oh because a resolution mode makes a huge difference!

/sarcasm

If it's widescreen, it's good enough for me.

It actually does.

Thats fine if you like SD,most if not all people like or want to watch and play games in HD.

HD still is just a goddamn screen resolution.

Yes but there are graphical enhancements, Those graphical enhancements cannot be seen on a SD tv.

It IS a huge difference.

It is not a "huge" difference. It looks a bit better. Most people, as stated, do not know when they are even witnessing HD. Poll after poll has shown that the vast majority of people do not care about HD. Nintendo knew this, and said "why would we bother with HD right now?"

I think history will look favorably on that decision. And screw HD, tv's are going 3d anyway.

See, I've played games with over 50% more pixels than the glorified "Full HD" before PS3 or Xbox360 even launched, and some people go even higher, so you could make the exact same point about "HD". The fact is that HD is meaningless, it's not a tangible thing, it's not the top resolution, it's just the top affordable range of resolutions for TVs. How can that be a matter of innovation or mimickery?

Thats nice that you played them on PC's but were talking about CONSOLES.

My computer cannot connect to my TV.

@Viper1

Draw Distance and Enemies or objects far way. If it was on a SD console it would be blurry and pixels.

Look, the point I'm trying to make is that it would be more expensive and less people would actually be able to use it, but the technology exists for a hypotetical console to go over-HD, wich is exactly the same comparsion between HD and SD, so there's nothing special or innovative about HD for it to be "copied". Also, so what if it's a console or a PC, it's being applied to games.

And it's hard for any computer nowadays to not be able to hook to a modern TV.

And right on. HD is NOT an innovation, it's just more power.

Innovation is doing something that is NOT expected. For example, I expect the next system from each company to have higher resolutions. There is nothing unexpected, or innovative, about that.

In real life things that are far away are blurry, and non-detailed.

On the contrary people do perfer HD over SD resolution any day..

As a classic gaming enthusiast, I can safely say this isn't always the case.  I'd MUCH rather play Sonic 2 in it's original low res output on Virtual Console than sloppily upscaled and cheaply filtered on XBLA.

Nintendo can easily counter Sony Move including WiiMotion+ in every WiiMote. But this means not selling it anymore as an extra (if not to previous WiiMote owners) and having a very light and temporary cost increase (mass production would drive it down even faster than selling it as an add-on), that's why Reggie's angry. Regarding other issues, Nintendo exclusives are an almost completely separated market, totally unaffected by competitors moves, only how good are the games matters. The only possible trouble for Nintendo are 3rd parties.

Then your TV must be rather old. I can connect any of my 3 PCs to my TV no problem (and my TV is 4 yrs old). I have no idea why people seem to have this bizzare idea that you can't connect PCs to TVs. A TV is just a monitor with attached speakers and extra connection points.

Just a further point along those lines.

Depending on where you live 60% to 90% of people who own HD TVs have them set up in a way that is incapable of displaying HD. Are these people screaming mad at the fact their TV doesn't look like the one in the store? No, there are completely unaware of the resolution difference.

Most lay people don't talk about screen resolution, they talk about screen size, and for many of them "HD" is just a code word for "big screen".

No Nintendo fans on this site dont care about HD, people who aren't on this site care about it.

Thats why the Wii HD rumor keeps popping up.

3D is going to be a fad, unless they make a TV where you dont have to wear glasses to watch it then there going to flop.

N fans on most every site don't care.

The reason it keeps popping up is because the video game media is run by people who are HD fans.  So they constantly hound Nintendo about it, write fake rumors to get hits about it, or do it to subtly display a bias against Wii for its current lack of HD.

OK, seriously, people in LIFE don't care. Most people at my HS don't even understand the concept of HD. In fact, some of the associates at Wal-mart (which I hate, and this is one reason why) don't know what HD is about. Whenever I am forced to help my mom shop there, I always ditch her and there's always some 30-ish couple trying to ask what HD is and not being able to understand it.

Whenever I'm at a store like in said above sentence, they look to ME for help. ME, an 18-year-old highschool student. It gets VERY frustrating to explain how more pixels = more clarity. It's gotten to the point where I have come up with several analogies of making a picture using grains of rice, or lego bricks that I at one point carried around with me...

My mom (44) is even in denial about HD. She thinks a 32" flatscreen 4:3 CRT TV is the best one in the house, against a 32" Element LCD, a 40" Dynex LCD, a 42" Westinghouse, and a 60" Sony Bravia (LCD)... Obviously there is a misconception in the public eye...
