How many 1st time gamers bought this game? we'll never know. But i cant imagine many with the poor reviews this game got. The true numbers will be in the weeks to come and ill be accepting your apoligies then. |
You will not be getting one as it isn't necessary.
the quality of ff is certainly not going down at all. all thats happenig is people are
expecting some kind of god like this from ff which is rediculous. no matter how good a ff game is going to be people will still complain because its not the exact same as a previous 1 which is just stupid cause them people would complain more square enix definelty have the hardest audience to please by a long shot

True, but this is due in part from what Xxain said. As much as I love the Final Fantasy games, they haven't been equal to the be-all-end-all of JRPG's, yet people and reviewers always place that burden on FF, be it for popularity reasons or for it's own producers or S-E hyping it to no end.
Final Fantasy fans already know what to expect from each new Final Fantasy, especially if they go to each new iteration with an open mind, instead of wanting all FF's to be rehashes of FF6/FF7.
OT - Nope, the JRPG run isn't over and it won't be over for many generations to come. People can put the genre down, or FF down in this case, but the overall panorama won't change that much. Heck, I still remember the days when WRPG's were pratically doomed to an oblivious existance on the PC's, with very few series and good games in that genre. Look where they are today. Who's to say that JRPG's, in the future, won't come back to the top?
Oh, and FF bombing? If FF bombs, then what does that make for any other JRPG? Heck, most WRPG's would be glad to do the numbers that any FF game does :P Clearly, the concept of bombing isn't what you think it is.

lol, the game didn't bomb, it was a huge success. If by "bomb" you mean "didn't get the reviews some people expected" then no, every FF changes the formula, so they could very easily be right back to critical acclaim with the next entry.
Either way, critical acclaim isn't required for a game to be great, or even your favorite game ever. For a long time, Radiant Dawn was my favorite game this gen(it got very medicore reviews), and I still like it a billion times more than LBP, so really, what does critical acclaim matter anyway?
I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.
NO NO, NO NO NO.
Wait....what? JRPG sells have been no different this gen as it was last gen for the most part.
Final Fantasy XIII has sold 1.9 million copies so far in Japan and has sold 450,000 copies in its first day in America (which is more then FFXII first day sells I believe)
Dragon Quest 9 has sold over 4.15 million copies in Japan alone (becoming the best selling Dragon Quest game yet in the series)
Lost Odyssey has sold over 800,000 copies (most of which has come from America)
Valkyria Chronicles has sold over 850,000 copies so far
Tales of Vesperia has sold over 800,000 copies (with the PS3 release added of course and could get to 1m if Namco would just release it in the west already)
Star Ocean 4 has sold over 800,000 copies (with the PS3 release added)
White Knight Chronicles has sold over 500,000 copies
These sells per with the sells jrpg had last gen. So....what are you talking about?

ppl must also understand a genre that has strong lead WILL NOT DIE! EVER!....rather you love it or you hate FINAL FANTASY is currently still the Leader and pretty strong one at that.
