An explanation as to how it has bombed is needed.

Nah, not really. Keep in mind, the genre is a lot older than the PS2 and has staying power out the wazoo. FF's popularity might be waning, but Pokemon is goingn strong an Dragon Quest is actually getting more popular with time.

JRPG's are no where near as popular as they were in previous generations. WRPG's are finally gaining popularity and JRPG's are losing the grandure they once had. I've said it once and I'll say it again....JRPG's went on a crash course after the Square Enix merger.

Generally JRPG sales are about on level with last gen's....

Just had to post on all the hate on final fantasy XII, this is the secound best game of the PS series.

XIII is not selling that bad, its sold out at many Walmarts, gamespots etc.

JRPGs as per the Final Fantasy school are probably going down. But JRPGs in the style of pokemon and Dragon Quest are on the way up. I suspect people are simply bored of all the filler and the way games are designed so they don't hit the Japanese used market too soon after release. This doesn't really translate very well to the west for a general audience.

Yeah, but I would think that most people wouldn't have X-2 as one of their favorite FF games. Except Xen maybe.

And I beat FFX. I'm playing IX now.

WPRGs might be getting the higher marks and selling well, but FFXIII will probably still sell 5+ million, if not more. How is that bombing?

You all are looking at the numbers wrong. All sales were due to past FF players me included, buying a game we all once loved. How many 1st time gamers bought this game? we'll never know. But i cant imagine many with the poor reviews this game got. The true numbers will be in the weeks to come and ill be accepting your apoligies then.

FFXIII is actually on pace to outsell FFXII....and even if it doesn't it's a HUGE success sales wise. So what's this thread even about?
