Dragon Quest X - PSWii Multiplat Gonna Happen?

I'm not going to read the thread. 20 10.42%

Multiplat 43 22.40%

Not Multiplat 102 53.13%

Final Fantasy 7: Remake 27 14.06%

Total:192

I know, i know... It is as of this very moment a Wii Exclusive. But without a contract with Ninty FOR exclusivity, i think this could end up being a PS3/Wii multi.

Reasons being...

  1. Wii Remote and PS Wand are very, very similar in the things they can do.
  2. A huge JRPG audience are already on PS3, including the Final Fantasy fanbase.
  3. Square-Enix let Final Fantasy XIII be on Xbox, because Microsoft asked... And because of the extra large userbase, ofcourse. Looking at this, couldn't Sony also "ask" SE for DQX on PS3? It would be a no brainer as far as i'm concerned. 100M+ Total Userbase is hard to turn down.
  4. Square-Enix are already developing for the PS Move, they will have experience in both motion devices by DQX release.

So... Did i miss any possible reasons? Am i being foolish? Post!

With reports that the PS Move is already inferior to the Wii mote (even though its still in beta) and the PS3's inability to move 3rd party software, especially games created by Square Enix, I am assuming that this will remain a Wii exclusive.

I doubt DQX uses much motion capability. If SE wasn't going to put it on PS3 then, I see no reason why they would put it on PS3 now.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

It won't happen.

Unless they decide it's prevalent to stop the internet for a day after announcing it at E3.

Pixel Art can be fun.

Red - ?

Final Fantasy XIII has outsold every SE effort on Wii combined... In Japan alone.

Even SO4, a late port of a relatively bad game, has outsold (or about to outsell) every game SE have done on Wii baring DQ Swords.

Maybe. The reasoning behind the thread actually relies on it using the motion control, but as we have seen with MH3... Might not happen.

I know, I'm just interjecting logic in a reverse way on how DQX can appear on the PS3, contrary to what people are going to post.

I dont think so.

DQX seems to have some Nintendo investment in it, and besides, by the time it is ready to release, the Wii will only have more owners in Japan.

You are also assuming that the Move will (excise the pun) move a lot of units. I don't really see it doing insanely good, or moving new consoles. Firstly, only originality sells, and this seems too "me 2" even though its different from the Wii remote. Secondly, the main, hardcore Sony fanbase already owns the console. 80-90% of PS2 owners last gen were casuals, many of whom the Wii and 360 have sucked up.

And also, it doesnt matter what platform DQ realeses on; its gonna sell. The Wii isnt bad for 3rd party software (look @ MH3) its just that developers dont put time into their games.

Besides, you're overlooking development costs. At the end of the day, because development costs are, at best half of what it would be on PS3 (but realistically 1/4 to 1/3) then SE has a larger profit margin. At the end of the day, Wii is the best platform for DQ. Its the best platform for many things, it just hasn't been given that chance yet.

Edit: Carl, you have to realize that the biggest game for the PS3 in Japan was FF13, and even that failed to meet the expectations SE had when they started to develop the games way back in 2005-06 (everyone thought the PS3 was gonna be market leader this gen...).  The PS3 rules, and is an awesome console, but the last big gun Sony really has in Japan is GT5.  Nintendo still has DQX to release, and we don't know how well new IP's Xenoblade and Last Story will do.

DQX will stay on Wii.  Its as simple as that.

I just don't see it happening. Porting from Wii to PS3 would be more expensive than PS3 to 360. Also, Nintendo's pushing the advertisement in the west. a PS3 version would be a big slap to the face.

Possible, but i think Ninty will fihgt for this one especially since DQ9 was on the DS and that turned out succesful
