Forums - Sony - PlayStation Move will offer limited four player support

guys.. don't you remember the "why does PS3 support 7 controllers?" threads when it launched or even before it launched? ..

really, this matter was known since years and when I heard they made the "sub" wireless I knew instantly that 4 player move+sub wouldn't work

The sensor bar on the Wii doesn't keep track of anything, it is the Wiimote that contains the camera and keeps track - the (misleadingly named) sensor bar contains the reference points... So there is no problem keeping track of 4 players.

As to most people (at least those who own a Wii) only playing at 2 players, I rather doubt that, especially in the case of games like NSMBWii.

I know, hence the quotes.

I was thinking that in a scenario of "gladiator fighting" more than 2 people would get in each other's way or block each other's Wiimote line of sight.

I don't know about NSMBWii, but i do know that 2 people playing Wii Sports Tennis is plenty to fill in the space in front of the TV.

Whats the frame of view on the PSEye? Im just thinking if you need to space 4 people out so they don't hit each other, how far away would they have to be for them to all fit in frame?

Do you know what its like to live on the far side of Uranus?

That's cool. For 4 player party games though, you'd expect very simplistic controls. LBP for example really just has movement, jump and grab. Everything else is pretty useless when it comes to playing the game. The wand has more than enough buttons for opening and using the menus in the game.

Makes sense. Also, as previously mentioned by someone, I can't think of any Wii games that have 4 player mutiplayer and necessitate having both Wiimote and nunchuk for the players, so while in theory this is a limitation, it should not really limit anything. Now the lag issue, if it will still be there at launch, that's something else.

What lag issue?

That's for another thread (of which there are several, here's one - http://www.vgchartz.com/forum/thread.php?id=103631 , look for the word "lag"), sorry I mentioned it here, I should have left it at "I agree this 4 player limit is for all purposes a non-issue"

Games that support 4 people and must use remotes/nunchucks

  • Mario Strikers Charged (the best multiplayer game on Wii)
  • NHL 2k10
  • PES 2009 (or any soccer)
  • NBA 2k10 (or any basketball)

None of them are forcing you to use a nun-chuck, but the following games use it and are typically gimped/casualized if they don't have the nunchuck.

  • Grand Slam Tennis (or any tennis)
  • Madden (or any football)
  • Mario Kart (the "best" control scheme if you want to be the fastest)
  • Brawl (it's better than just a Remote, but not as good as a classic/GC)
  • Rayman Raving Rabbids 2 & TV
  • Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games
  • Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games
  • TMNT Smash-Up
  • Wii Music

Obviously most those style games will either be limited to 2-player with motion, be gimped, or they won't support motion controls at all. I'm also sure that if I actually dug through the database I could find more that necessitate the controls.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy
In the past we played games. In the future we watch games. - Forest-Spirit
11/03/09 Desposit: Mod Bribery (RolStoppable)  vg$ 500.00
06/03/09 Purchase: Moderator Privilege  vg$ -50,000.00

This doesn't bother me at all, if I can (eventually) get 2 working pairs for some local co-op, it's completly fine. I've never played on my Wii with more than 1 other person at the same time, we've played Wario Ware in 4-6 but that's not at the same time so what gives? And most games will still support dualshock (I really don't want to stear in ModNation Racers with that wand, it's just dumb).

MY HYPE LIST: 1) Gran Turismo 5; 2) Civilization V; 3) Starcraft II; 4) The Last Guardian; 5) Metal Gear Solid: Rising

Haha, ok sorry, in my defence i have never played any of these games (except for Mario Kart, and i play that one "casually", with a wheel).
