Forums - Nintendo - IGN: PlayStation Move, The Wii Perspective

Personally, I will wait for Wii2. The only thing that move can do that WiiM+ can't is depth detection, which WM+ probably could simulate (if it doesn't already). I have my Wii for Nintendo games. I could care less if they are HD or not, I care about how they play, and Nintendo has that down solid.
I have a 360, so if Natal is like $50, I'll probably pick it up.

November 2006 to March 2010 is three years and four months. Can't these people count?

I got into a heated discussion over that a few days ago. Cammie said Wii was into its 5th year, and when I told everyone that I didn't understand why would Cammie say such thing, they told me to learn to count lol. It's 3 and 4 months, like you say, but people count 2006 and 2010 as whole years :/

Well... let's jsut think for a sec... yeah yeah i know, just, stick with me for a while

Let's say that the wii wasn't created on November 2006 (launch date) let's say it was created well before.... I mean, it was announce way earlier. So MAYBE, and I'm just saying maybe, when they talk about four and a half year old device... they are referring when it was created, not when it was launched.

Call me crazy, but when you look at it that way.... it makes a lil more sense than just saying "rofl, learn to count"

Sony did what it inevitably had to do to embrace the new market Nintendo created.

Just like the D-pad in the 80's, the analogue stick in the 90's, and touch-screen handhelds in the 21st century, Nintendo once again sets the standard as visionaries, while the rest follow suit...

I don't see how this is a bad thing for Nintendo and/or Wii owners at all. Yeah, you can scream "ripoff" all you want, but in the end this means more developers will be focusing on motion control development, and should only lead to more software for Wii (through inevitable pswii projects).

This seems to confirm what others have said: The Move does a great job recognizing gestures because of the PSEye's ever-present calibration, but it doesn't hold up as well as the IR camera when used as a pointer.

Which reduces it's value for fps, tps, rts and other gaming that works best with a pointer. And there I was thinking SOCOM would mean Arc would take over any possible role Wii had for TPS.

A game I'm developing with some friends:

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.

No... the rofl part learn to count was just an expression. A lot of people claim that they don't know how to count, but it's just that people tend to forget that the wii wasn't created the day it was launch. That's why they said it's a 4-5 year old technology

man, where did this false information stem from? The Wii Remote (without WM+) can absolutely sense depth. There are 2 beacons on the sensor bar. If the beacons are far apart, you are close to the TV, if the beacons are close together you are closer to the TV (or way to the side, but it is a relatively safe assumption that you are mostly infront of the TV). There were games near launch that used depth in their gameplay.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

Well although I doubt that there will be too many crossover games, more or less ports or just support becuase Move isn't something that comes with the system, but I do think it'll help to flow around more ideas and push the guys to make more innovative games.

OK. You're right about that. If you ever played with the drawing tool on the photo channel you can make your marker bigger or smaller by how close you are to the sensor bar. However, the Move can sense depth without having to point the remote directly at the screen, due to that stupid ball on the top.

On an unrelated note, have you ever encountered people who think the sensor bar is actually what does the motion detection? Fools.
