Whats stopping me? 5 good reasons

FFXIII
GOWIII
Resonance of Fate
Yakuza 3
Bayonetta

Why do you believe Bad Company 2 is of lower quality than those titles? From the metacritic score, Bad Company 2 has been much more acclaimed than FFXIII, and it's even more remarkable as FFXIII has been hyped to death, and we know how those titles usually fair (Badcompany 2,etc).

Yea I agree on the last part

I don't know how the point system in TF2, but a point system without rewards, is like money without purchasing power. There's simply no value or incentive to get those points, without any incentive and valuable things to be gotten from them.

You get bragging rights of going "you guys suck, all I did was build teleporters and dispensers." You get points for just about anything beneficial in TF2 and that's how it works and how it should be. You CAN indeed unlock alternate weapons, but their mechanics are always the same just tweaked properties and they are just alternatives. They are unlocked randomly by playing or by doing class achievements and that's it. But of course Valve is wrong, considering that TF2 will prolly sell more than BC2 ever will. Just something to think about.

And MW2 sold more than TF2, or GTA IV, and so did Wii fit *shrug* I don't know why you're dictating profits as quality, a very shallow measurement if you ask me. I don't appreciate the dumbing down of games, just to appeal to more people.

You really haven't provided a reason why unlocks via points is detremental. All you said was "TF2 does this", and let it off of that.

You may get bragging rights, but I think people brag more about their K/D ratio than their total score or SPM, as CoD is famously known for.

Look, just answer the question. Why is providing an actual incentive to get points, BAD, as opposed to simply making it a matter of bragging rights? By providing an incentive, it encourages people to get more points (which is done by cooperative play, rather than killing and staying alive).

Did you really bring non-FPS games into this discussion. I'd also love to see MW2 outsellinf TF2 on the PC. Also maybe that was exactly what threw me off BC2, it felt more dumbed down than it should have been so that it could appeal to more people.

I also said "TF2 does that, it sold more, therefore it seems more likeable with a better strategy." Also calling TF2 dumbed down to appeal to the masses would be very very wrong.

It's bad because if I want to shoot people, I want to fucking shoot people, not to wait to level up to get the guns I want to shoot them with. That should stick in WoW and other RPGs, which I love, but not in FPSes. In FPSes you shoot people with any gun you want, WoW is that way ------>

Hey Akvod, I wanna play with you. Holy crap your K/D is over 2 :O

FPSs shouldn't just be about shooting people with any gun you want. A good FPS, IMHO, is about completing objectives, with shooting as the means. But other means include TEAM WORK, and communication.

However, even with the point system we see people shunning these two important things, seeking to play the game as if it were a run and gun death match. DICE therefore decided to punish these people and slow down their growth by giving more points to those who spot, those who do support roles, etc.

And quit your whining, I honestly think DICE was TOO generous. You can easily go the DM route, and end up maxing out your classes. I would have prefered giving ZERO points to the losing team, just to encourage people to prioritize the team's win/loss more.

And the guns, even the very beginning ones, are very nice too. DICE has balanced everything, no gun should just be completely better than the rest. You're just blaming your starting gun for being owned, not your skill. Remember, I started out with the beginning guns too, and somehow I managed to unlock everything just fine. You have the means, now adjust and stop cherishing your K/D ratio, and get the fuck in there and blow those crates!
