Did you really bring non-FPS games into this discussion. I'd also love to see MW2 outsellinf TF2 on the PC. Also maybe that was exactly what threw me off BC2, it felt more dumbed down than it should have been so that it could appeal to more people. I also said "TF2 does that, it sold more, therefore it seems more likeable with a better strategy." Also calling TF2 dumbed down to appeal to the masses would be very very wrong. It's bad because if I want to shoot people, I want to fucking shoot people, not to wait to level up to get the guns I want to shoot them with. That should stick in WoW and other RPGs, which I love, but not in FPSes. In FPSes you shoot people with any gun you want, WoW is that way ------> |
FPSs shouldn't just be about shooting people with any gun you want. A good FPS, IMHO, is about completing objectives, with shooting as the means. But other means include TEAM WORK, and communication.
However, even with the point system we see people shunning these two important things, seeking to play the game as if it were a run and gun death match. DICE therefore decided to punish these people and slow down their growth by giving more points to those who spot, those who do support roles, etc.
And quit your whining, I honestly think DICE was TOO generous. You can easily go the DM route, and end up maxing out your classes. I would have prefered giving ZERO points to the losing team, just to encourage people to prioritize the team's win/loss more.
And the guns, even the very beginning ones, are very nice too. DICE has balanced everything, no gun should just be completely better than the rest. You're just blaming your starting gun for being owned, not your skill. Remember, I started out with the beginning guns too, and somehow I managed to unlock everything just fine. You have the means, now adjust and stop cherishing your K/D ratio, and get the fuck in there and blow those crates!
