Forums - Sony - How the PlayStation Move is NOT a Wii Remote

I am assuming everyone forgets you can waggle the damn wiimote any which way and get the same effect. This you CANT do that. You must follow through and do a full movement. Much more "Motion" Is required. I remember playing zelda. At first i was like "YEAH"*swings arms around like a wild man* Once I realized that if i jerked the controller off I would still get the same effect i was like "meh"

Technically. Nintendo stole motion control from... Nintendo? Power glove ftw?

A lot of that has to do with software integration. If you played WarioWare Smooth Moves you know there's more to the regular Wiimote than just moving, but it's a matter of implementing it to gameplay in a way that works for everybody that is using it in a particular gameplay context.

Which is why it's so insanely early to make determinations on which is better. In practice, they may very well be the same, depending on how game design implements them. I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo got the edge just because they've experimented more, even though the tech may be more limiting. On the same note, in practice, Sony's apparent technological edge may prove meaningless. It's all about context and implementation.

right...

 LOL

why's that nunchuck wire length so short? lol

because the person holding the wiimote is actually a giant and they built a specially giant wiimote and nunchuk for him...unfortunately giant wire hasn't been invented yet so theyre usually the regular one. its the only logical explination

oh my god :-O i didnt know that... f*king giants!

On OP, Im still amused about how this things are totally different

Rediculous.

Thread title says: "How the PlayStation Move is NOT a Wii Remote"

Here I'm thinking they couldn't have been much more similar. It's like saying the Xbox360 controller isn't like the Dual Shock.

Even I admit the ps move is too much like wm+, but it is slightly more precise, I can't wait, all people who have owned a wii and have bought a ps3 now, will be getting move because of the similarities, so I cannot see any problems here.

it's the future of handheld

PS VITA = LIFE

You guys think we need an official "Move" thread?

I think Sony would have avoided a lot of the "knock off" talk if they hadn't announced this thing and shown off a Sony Sports Resort and a boat load of Wii shovelware style games. A lot of the gamer press feedback that I've seen centers around the fact that it's 2010 and all this Sony thing seems to be is a HD graphics version of stuff the Wii was doing back in 2006. Not only is it similar hardware, but it's similar software. And sadly it's not copying the good stuff on the Wii like Mario, Zelda, Metroid, etc... the focus was with stuff on par with like Carnival Games and Imagine Babies.

^ Because that is whats selling.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.
