I think Sony would have avoided a lot of the "knock off" talk if they hadn't announced this thing and shown off a Sony Sports Resort and a boat load of Wii shovelware style games. A lot of the gamer press feedback that I've seen centers around the fact that it's 2010 and all this Sony thing seems to be is a HD graphics version of stuff the Wii was doing back in 2006. Not only is it similar hardware, but it's similar software. And sadly it's not copying the good stuff on the Wii like Mario, Zelda, Metroid, etc... the focus was with stuff on par with like Carnival Games and Imagine Babies.
