It wouldnt even be fixed for free from under MS's warranty. The thing is nearly 3 years old (maybe less since Ps3 launched later in EU).
It will be near 200 dollars to fix it through Sony...
Tell us exactly the symptoms of your ps3. Is it the YLoD? Or is it the laser?
I know some people got lucky and it works after doing a system format.

I will call Sony tomorrow, I bought my PS3 half a year after launch so it's definitely out of guarantee... They'll probably charge me a liver or two for repairs / replacement
