Forums - Gaming - Girl mistakes gun for Wii controller - kills herself

Won't have to worry about this when Natal comes out. Another win for Microsoft

Why civilians are allowed firearms in USA is beyond me. No one except police and military should be allowed those.

If what they said about the mother is true; with the childat the moment it happened, then she should go exile.

This could have fuled that crazy old fart of a lawer jack thompson even more if we wasn't disbarred. Whats really screwed up about this is that is that its going to enforce the ban on guns which is going to make it even worse for the other side arguing that it violates the second amendment.

What a brilliant step father she had! This isn't at all Wii's fault. It's completely because of the parents.

It's not the cold dead hands of Charlton Heston they're prying guns from, but the cold dead hands of a little girl.

Yes, let's let anyone have a gun, and let's "advise" them of what's sensible about preventing little children from playing with loaded weapons like they're toys. It seems to work so well.

Tennessees are retarded, end of story =)

New info:

"A Wilson County child has died after accidentally shooting herself Sunday evening.

Three-year-old Cheyenne Alexis McKeehan shot herself in the abdomen with the family’s handgun at their home in the rural Norene community, Wilson County Sheriff Terry Ashe said.

Ashe said the girl’s stepfather had taken out his gun to try to frighten off dogs that had been hanging around the home.

The child had been playing a Nintendo Wii video game, Ashe said. The game’s controller was shaped like a gun that looked very similar to the real handgun, which her stepfather had put on a table in the living room. Ashe said the girl pulled the gun off the table and it went off.

The girl’s parents were at home at the time of the shooting, the sheriff said.

Ashe said the shooting is under investigation, and that no charges have been filed."

Wow.

I thought triggers were quite hard to pull though.... my experience with guns is a single air pellet gun I was allowed to pul the trigger of once (I think I was 11, it was a friends house) I really struggled to pull the trigger then, perhaps some are easier than others.

Excuse me, but how the f*** can you leave a loaded gun within reach of a child!? A child, that was also playing with a "Wii gun"!
Hm, a little girl is playing with a "Toy gun" in here, leaving a loaded gun on the table can't do any harm, can it? Ugh...Yuck...

Well this is a no brainer, he left a loaded gun on the table....
