Forums - Gaming - Girl mistakes gun for Wii controller - kills herself

So wtf was the mother doing? Coked off her tits? That bit seems a bit worse than the stepdad leaving it on the table.

... This could've been stopped in so many different ways it's fucking painful.

Who is stupid enough not only to actually leave a firearm laying around instead of securing it in a gun cabinet etc. but also leaving it:

- Loaded
- With the safety OFF
- Within a child's reach
- With an inattentive guardian
- With everyone else not giving a shit

Just... wow. Why were these retards allowed to own guns in the first place?

because of the second amendment ?

@ topic )

If this story is true it's a very sad one. I'm sorry for the poor little girl, there was absolutely no need for her to die if her parents were a bit more responsible. And these poor excuses both are making make the whole matter seem even more suspicious.

God I hope they don't blame this on games and not on the dumb-shit stepfather that left a loaded gun where a three year old could get a hold of it.

There's absolutely no excuse for that and I hope they charge him for manslaughter.

It's perfectly fine to own guns, but:

  1. You should be taught in gun safety
  2. Don't fucking leave it loaded
  3. Leave it locked somewhere so that only the people who you want can have access to it

Rule #1 makes sense.

Though, leaving a gun loaded isn't usually a bad thing.  Also, leaving a gun locked up isn't usually needed, nor is it always a good thing.

What?

Don't get me wrong, I live in Texas and grew up on a farm so I'm all about guns but I'm sorry, you absolutely do not leave a loaded gun lying around and you don't leave it in a place where others can get a hold of it.  Violating both of those is just incredibly irresponsible and that's exactly how accidents like this happen.

You should never leave even an unloaded gun where a three year old can pick it up and if you're not using the gun it should be locked up somewhere where only specific people have access to it.  Gun safes are cheap these days and they are quick to get into if you have the access and do an excellent job of keeping the wrong people out.

To add to this, gun safe's with fingerprint reading tech in them are fairly cheap these days, if you absolutely must have a gun fairly handy.

Oh absolutely, I know a friend who had one 10 years ago so I imagine today they have to be even better.  If you have a gun there's no excuse whatsoever to not have something like that.

As I said earlier, it's just irresponsible to not have something like that and this article shows the consequences.

Ok NOW this is just so F***** UP ... What do they mean by "she mistaked the gun for the wii controller" ... I mean that is just retarded ... who the fuck leaves a gun lying around the house with little kids in it ? If they had a Ps3 or Xbox instead of a Wii ... then what would the news heading say ? I mean come on it should be : Retarded dad leaves Gun for little kiddie to play with."

this is ne of the few times when twesterm gets my 100% respect. Both pairents should get sued for this and as for the mother making excuses. If anything she should be saying lock me up because of feeling so guilty about. And the shit for brains father aswell.

Apparently the second amendment of the US constitution needs some work.

But that debate's for another thread.

"According to the stepfather, the gun was out because he had heard a prowler and gotten the gun out earlier that evening. He then left the gun on the table in the living room."

Has to be one of the Top 2 dumbest things I've heard this month.

1. He could've still placed it out of the reach of his child.

2. If it was earlier in the evening that he heard the prowler he could've investigated and then called the authorities if it was such a concern.

3. It's not hard to switch the safety on and off on a .380 or most guns for that matter if youy feel your life is in immediate danger.

4. If he was worried about a prowler, why was his child hangin out in the living room? Was she going to provide back up????

R.I.P. to the little girl. This story makes me think of my 2 year old niece who I just saw last night.

I am the Playstation Avenger.

1. Mod Edit
2. The parents (or well, the mother and the stepfather) didnt deserve to have a kid.

I would appreciate all people used common sense sometimes...
