New Super Mario Bros Wii. I got all the way to that castle on the right side of the map, and all that happened was Peach flew away on some damn ship...

There was more after that...

For those who don't remember the Conduit ending (I think this game is sufficiently old to not have to worry about it being a spoiler, though it doesn't spoil much):

You are in a room with a bunch of conduits and you kill a bunch of all the alient enemies throughout the game.

Then adams shuts down the conduits and locks you in.You then have to "hack" these stasis fields that hold some big guys in 2:00 (though they give you some of the most powerful weapons right off the bat so beating them is WAY too easy) and jump through the conduit.

It shows the tube cinematic AND....credits...

ugh I hated that ending too...

most of the pokemon games, i love them to death but for an RPG a pokemon game's story kinda sucks, especially the anticlamatic endings

Pokemon games end? News to me.

Anywho, I gotta say that Avatar: The Game (the 10 foot tall blue monkey Avatar, not the bald headed wind dude Avatar) had the most anticlimatic ending (the 360/PS3 version by the way). I mean, you fly to a Well of Souls to stop the humans from getting to it first, and as you land you see a Dragon gunship come into view. "Oh crap, time to save... this is gonna be a tough one" I think to myself... and save I do. Takind a deep breath, I enter the arena where the Well of Souls is, ready to battle this massive piece of machinery.

And then a cut scene plays where I enter the sacred area as the gunship crashes (I didn't do anything yet!).

And then the credits role.

Bah! I'm angry just typing about it.

The Conduit wasn't the first game to had such an anti-climatic ending. Even before the game was shipped, they confirmed they had a sequel planned.

another example is also an RPG, ToS:DotNW. this game had a great story in my opinion but the ending was also kind of a letdown, especially compared to the great main story.

I guess you didn't get the good ending?

what do you mean?

btw i just wanna say upfront that i have a horrible memory (seriously), soo...

anyway, what i remember was *SPOILER* Emil fighting in the end with his other self (ratatosk) then merging together with him, then he and Marta were standing at this bridge place and that was it. I think the credits rolled after that *END SPOILER*

wasn't that it??

MGS4, could you have a more boring ending?

Play just about anygame from the NES eras. Too many games just had.

"Then End"
"Thank you for Playing"

Squilliam: On Vgcharts its a commonly accepted practice to twist the bounds of plausibility in order to support your argument or agenda so I think its pretty cool that this gives me the precedent to say whatever I damn well please.

Good thing this isn't the Sony forums. You would be jumped on there.

Not that the other pages don't have their sacred cows, but it's still a wrong mindset.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

Mass Effect 2

Conkers Bad Fur Day perhaps? I love the ending but it's perfectly anti-climatic.

Fable II... if you wait long enough you don't even get to kill the main villain. I mean, I definitely appreciate Lionhead's sense of humor, but seriously?

And ME2's post-ending part was bad if you decide to not start a New Game+ right away. Something like three party members were like "gee shepard that was an interesting decision!"... and that's about it.
