Forums - General - About Watchmen... O_o; (Spoilers for the movie Watchmen)

I don't recall a single lead cast member who wasn't white in that movie... O_o;

I only just realized this...

BEST SUPERHERO MOVIE EVER!!! :D

Finally, movies are getting rid of crappy "political correctness". Ugh, disgusting..., worst part is extremist political correctness people (i.e. everyone who is politically correct) are the worst because they always think they're right and superior about everything they say because they were brought up to believe that by TV, school, at home or worse, all three.

You do know Watchmen is based off a graphic novel right?

So you enjoyed Watchmen more because there was no black actors.... maybe if they chucked Will Smith into the cast, they could of actually made a half decent movie.

Bet with Conegamer and AussieGecko that the PS3 will have more exclusives in 2011 than the Wii or 360... or something.

You think a movie was awesome because it had no black people in it...?

I just ignored the ignorance of it and thought he'd catch on it was based off the comic. So casting was based off that, if he thinks that it was combating the PC world let him live in the bubble?

They copied the novel which featured mainly white characters in line with the very genre it was in many ways critiquing.

The novel did however feature a much larger role for the black psychiatrist, who in many ways represented perhaps the most consistently good person in the whole narrative, who has his very faith if good shaken to the roots by the events that befall him.

I really don't see any issue with the colour of the characters and I'd say that in many ways the preponderance of white characters is itself a critique of the times.

I find it odd you actually thought it was good because it didn't have more coloured characters. It is good the work wasn't PC, but I think you're miss understanding why it didn't have more coloured characters.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

Watchmen took place in the 40's, 50's, and 80's. There were no black people back then. Dr. Manhattan and his huge penis had to fill the void of "People of Color".

It was a great movie, in my opinion. At the time of the release of the comic/graphic novel, it was the first to tackle a lot of themes. Since then, some of the themes have been done and re-done in comics and movies. Pretty much any comic nowadays has Watchmen level characterization. The "Anti-Superhero" storyline has been done, done, and re-done since then, too. It was an accurate re-telling of the comic (without the Black Freighter storyline) but a lot of the storyline's impact has been lost.

I loved it, though.

When did I say that? I said I was happy that they weren't trying to be politically correct for the sake of it.

I never said anything about one specific race of people. Way to not read my post clearly.

No Giant OCTOPUS TENTACLE MONSTER means the worst movie ever.
