Forums - Gaming - Forget 7 - EDGE given FFXIII a 5!

I don't really mind the review, because I know I will enjoy the game. The good thing out of all of this is that the metacritic score of Dragon Quest IX could potentially be higher than Final Fantasy XIII :D!!!

Anyone else think if this was an exclusive, the scores reviewers give will tend to be higher overall? Not to mention less hate and rages? This game get a crapload of hatewave coming at it.

Wow...So Edge sucks for pointing out the truth?

I definitely would not want to live in your world if you believe this is the truth.

Edge could give this game a 1 out of 10 and they would still be just as useless to me.

FFXIII would absolutely be a first day purchase, regardless of the circumstances.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Same.

Still amazed however that the 360 version is still exempt from the 5/10 score on the 360 while the 80 score for the PS3 version from Eurogamer still applies to the 360 version, yet Eurogamer themselves admitted that the PS3 version is superior to the 360version. Same exact situation, different outcome, like I said before.

This makes Metacritic looks like a joke and only proves that they indeed pick and choose. Looks very very unprofessional.

I was also checking old Edge reviews and I can't believe these fools gave Vagrant Story a 7/10. O_o

I still want VS2, Square left that game wide open for a sequel and they have left me hanging for over a decade.

why aren't we getting 2 sets of reviews like we did with bayonetta?

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

JRPG as an genre has not evolved, crazy thing is, FFXIII is the game SE tried to be a little different, yet still get blasted by fans and reviewers.

thank God it's not a genre I care for.

Yeah, it seems to me that this certain genre is stuck between a rock and a hard place this generation. JRPG's haven't seen the success they've been used to for the past couple generations, especially on consoles (at least Pokemon is still going strong).

That said, I wish the best for FFXIII. I hope it pleases the fans and does well on the market (on both consoles).

pokemon isn't popular because its a JRPG (if its).

its simple one, only DQ its more simplistic.

lol.  I'm no Pokefreak, but the games are pretty easily deeper than anything Kitase has ever done.  It has to be, it's a competitive RPG at it's core.

And DQIX has more complexity and does more new stuff than the series usually known for too.  It's almost like the anti-FFXIII in a sense. I bet EDGE gives it a 9. <3 <3

I have to say this caught me by surprise.

Given the game is technically fine, then for me it's at least limped to a 5 or 6 out of 10 right there. Reading the review I'm really surprised they didn't go for a 7 - which would be game is fine technically and okay for the genre but nothing special.

A 5 means the game has serious issues, which is pretty much going against the general views which seem to be the game is fine if somewhat linear and nothing new.

Actually, edge uses 5 to mean average, rather than the '7 is average' that most sites use. That is the one good thing that can be said about edge. Pity their reviewers are actually chimpanzees trained to hit the numbers 4, 5, 6 and 7 on a keyboard in random orders
