Forums - Nintendo - Admitting that a game is hard...

I am 43 and I didn't have much trouble beating RE4, but I can manage the quicktime events, which is hard to some people. I gave up RE:UC a long time ago. It was just too frustrating and the story too cheesy (it was my first experience with Resident Evil and I wasn't impressed by the storyline). I advise you to shoot most of the furniture with the pistol to find more items and keep your best weapons to the bosses. Other than that, you need to train and insist till you succeed.

Fire Emblem is really hard, but I love the series. I am playing the Gamecube game right now.

Ok, I admit, I am having slight problems with Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles.  I have talked and wrote about this and noticed a trend...nobody is having difficulties with these games.  The majority of postings I read tell that those games are too easy and not challenging enough.  Ok!  I am not your typical teenage player. I am a mature player (38 years old), father and husband.  Maybe I'm to old.

Right now, I am struggling with umbrella chronicles.  God, there is a boss fight every 5 minutes.  Not that I hate it.  Far from it.  But I never get them the first time.  And for RE4, I am stuck.  Can't beat those infested at multiple places monsters.  And now...I cannot finish it!

I like games that are easier, like Resident Evil Shattered Memories, Cursed Mountain or Dead Space Extraction.

Anyway, just felt like sharing my thoughts.  Going to try again tonight...

There is nothing wrong with being a mature player. As a father and a husband I can se whare you might be exhausted and that could possibly be pert of the issue. Simply being tired from everyday issues. It happens! I ad major issues with RE4 so your not alone and I was 17 when I played it. I had a big issue with unbrella chronicles on the last last last LAST mission. Sometimes it's good to take abreather and comeback later. If you have issues I'll do what i can to help. If I own the game that is but I assure you. It's not you. It's the game.

I will fully admit certain games are hard. Zelda 2: Adventure of Link, Mario 2: The Lost Levels, Castlevania III, Ghosts 'n Goblins, UN Squadron, Uniracers, Super Empire Strikes Back, Shadows of the Empire, F-Zero GX, Ikaruga. Heck, even the recent title Little King's Story on the Wii gave me a ton of trouble due to the way it controlled and its lack of information of what to do to defeat bosses.

Resident Evil 4....not so much. Yeah, I died a few times. But after learning a monsters patterns or figuring out what I needed to do with a quick time event, it was rather easy. Most of the 'hard' parts in Resident Evil 4 came from the 'cinematic effects' and not understanding what you needed to do to avoid getting hit. Something the Resident Evil series is known for and actually, Resident Evil 4 had a lot less of.

Six upcoming games you should look into:

For as much praise as Resident Evil 4 gets, that game probably has the most uneven difficulty of any game I can remember playing. Some parts are really easy, and then it feels like they throw everything at you in the next room.

F-zero x kicks my ass.

And... yeah RE4 is fairly easy. With the regenerators you have to find the x-ray goggles for your rifle, you just gotta look for it, it's around here you first met 'em.

So far the hardest game I've played it's Street  Fighter IV.

Abel and Zangief whoop my ass so bad I just feel like throwing the controller, and the last guy its nearly impossible to beat even on easy.
