Is this game in the VGC game database?

If it was released on the Wii, DS, PS3, PSP, PS2, or X360 in PAL or NA in the last year and a half it is absolutely in the databaase.

I can probably also say that any console/portable game released this generation is in the database.

anyways - http://www.vgchartz.com/games/game.php?id=32231

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

so to be clear you guys are saying rune factory is good?

i been apprehensive but curious

Last year's game of the year turned out to be Silent Hill : Shattered Memories (online GOTY was COD 6).  This year's GOTY leader to me is Heavy Rain.

yes, rune factory frontier is, in my opinion, one of the best five third party wii titles! could be the third party title i spent the most time on.

on topic:

anno wii is a brilliant adaptation of the pc annos (and i loved the first one, Anno 1601 (or 1601 A.D. i think in america), to death. its more accessible and less deep than the latest PC annos, but it still has the addicting gameplay and a lot of polish! it's really well done and feels great on wii.

owning both, anno 1404 and anno wii, i feel both are must haves for fans of "city-building strategy" games.

i would really like to see the european data for sales, since especially in germany the Anno PC games are very successfull. the american numbers look bad, i hope it did much better here in germany!

the pc anno 1404 actually sold >100k in the first 10 days in germany alone! ( http://www.computerbild.de/artikel/cbs-News-PC-Anno-1404-Ubisoft-gibt-Verkaufszahlen-bekannt-4526891.html )

I always find it interesting to see how unknown the Anno franchise still is in most countries. In Germany it's one of the most popular and bestselling franchises, everyone who plays videogames knows the Anno franchise here.

Don't worry about the sucess or future of the overall franchise, btw: Anno 1404 for PC sold more than 100.000 copies within the first 10 days of its release last summer.

I prefer the PC versions - which are Anno 1701 (PAL) / 1701 A.D. (NA) and Anno 1404 (PAL) / Dawn of Discovery (NA) - over the handheld/console versions.
I'm not a graphics whore, but the last two Anno games for PC are not only fantastic games with an incredible depth, they are also among my most favourites when it comes to visuals. Anno 1701 for PC still looks great more than 3 years after its release and its successor 1404 of course looks even better:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0AlscbNMPQ8 (1701)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0d-q3mT0OwY (1404)

The DS versions are great as well (if you didn't know, there are two):
Anno 1701: Dawn of Discovery (NA) / Anno 1701 (PAL): http://www.vgchartz.com/games/game.php?id=17378&region=All
Dawn of Discovery (NA) / Anno: Create A New World (PAL): http://www.vgchartz.com/games/game.php?id=32232&region=All

Similar to Firaxis' Civilization vs. Civilization Revolution, the Anno developers did a great job in streamlining and porting it handheld/consoles...

...and worldwide publisher Ubisoft did a fantastic job with those confusing names and those ugly boxarts for the 2nd DS version and the Wii version...

I never played the Wii version, but I'm sure it's a great game, like all Anno games.

BTW:
People often put this franchise into RTS genre, which is not wrong at all, but I think RTS is to vague as the gamepplay is not really comparable to classic RTS such as Age of Empires or Command & Conquer.

To me the Anno/Dawn of Discovery games are managerial building sims. IMO it's the best building sim franchise on the market at the moment
(also thanks to EA which is slowly destroying the godfather of all building sims, SimCity, by just porting the franchise to every new system without trying to develop new ideas).

I still need to try out Dawn of Discovery. But I knew enough that when I saw it marked down to $20 in an indie game store outside of Philadelphia in August to grab a copy.

Now it sounds like I should hunt down Rune Frontier.

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.

Dawn of Discovery is one of the few 3rd party Wii games I still have. It's just great and I still feel if Ubisoft had advertised it would have done very well sales wise. I recommend it to anyone that enjoys city building or is curious about it. Completely accessible with great controls. Though one should use the nunchuck to make scrolling around the screen a LOT easier. Out side of that you only need the remote. The game has a nice bit of depth to it. Don't let the colorful graphics fool you. This is very solid game. One of the best on the Wii I feel.

this is the first I have herd of this game. I doubt it is out in Australia.
