Damn, normally, I'd use the Japanese voices, but with Nolan North, I'm kinda interested in playing with English, lol.

It's still crappy if the scene is meant to be voiced (and with HD it's going to be very obvious). Imagine a film where from time to time people on screen talk but there are only close captions and background sound.

Plus it's a crappy reason anyway, if things are as they state (eventhough it's an old article and things might have changed). They wanted to keep the time gap small, as a result they are releasing right next to FFXIII, and that's without any major anticipation for the game.

Plus it's irritating when PR feeds you excuses for a half-done job in a positive light.

Theres alot of whining here... you guys act like evry scene and text is voioced in other JRPGs

Not the same thing. In those JRPGs the western release usually has just as much voices as the original, well for JRPGs with this big budget anyway. It's not that there's only text, it's that Japan get's talking, while we do not.

dp you need a new a diaper? where does it say there wont be any talking!!! whats the point of hiring Nolan if hes not gonna speak. Ppl have taken this waaaay out of porportion( in part to crappy thread title)..all of the important scenes will be voiced in english..the minor conversayions dont neeed to be voiced.. think FFX or 12 or any other voiced JRPG was every non important scene voiced? NO. Hell if it was for this rebirth of a almost year old thread you would have even known

Why the need for insults? I obviously know that the game will have voice-acting, I'm no retard. If these scenes are so minor, why did they voice them in Japanese? Also why would anyone quote FFX as a game that had a lot of text and not so much voice-acting? I really didn't care for the game that much, but if it was anything it did well it was this, even a lot of talking outside of cutscenes had voice-acting.

For the record I don't care at all about this, even if I was interested in the game I wouldn't care. HOWEVER I can see why people WOULD be annoyed, there is a principle involved. One last thing: They are obviously trying to give this game as much western appeal as possible, yet they'd rather have the japanese voices on the disc than full english. Doesn't that seem a little odd to any of you?

Well, are you seeing how many "lazy" developers are appearing just recently? Well i prefer to believe that is not the case. Unfortunattely DVD is not the right media for HD and when you put high quality sound together, well, you know what happens. Blame DVD and money.

Partially localized as in having cinemas and skits without English Voices? DEJA VU *Infinite Undiscovery*

@ rccsetzer )

What do the devs have to do with the dubbing, huh? It's clearly a publisher decision.

But, could none of the publishers decision  affect development or vice versa? Do you think publishers could not be constrained by a decision made before? Exlpain me why this has nothing to do with development. Now are publishers "lazy" too?

im just sayin, especially for localizations the developers are not responsible the VA, A developer job is to develop, while the publisher job is to market, pay them, Voicework, boxart, manual ext. tri-Ace can do nothing but sick back and pray SEGA gives good english voicework, believe me tri-Ace is well aware of the poor voicework for games in there english releases and if they had the power to fix it they would

looking back at this thread I must say we JRPG fans are the most whiniest & annoying bunch of fans a genre probably has

I mean are we EVER HAPPY with anything?

Its probably our fault this genre is in demise :(

{goes to play WKC in revolt}
