I'm against gay marriage just because I think homosexuality basically goes against nature. Two guys/girls can be together for all I care but marriage is between a man and a woman.

why?

You can call me homophobic or whatever you want, but that's just my beliefs. I think marriage is meant to be between a man and a woman.

you still arent saying WHY you believe that though, thats what I want to know.

Dogma. Its just what I believe in.

I guess mainly because I don't think homosexuality is natural. Mens and womens "reproductive organs" (aka dick and vagina) are designed (by God or evolution or whatever you believe in) to work with each other. If 2 men/women were supposed to be together wouldn't they be able to reproduce with each other?

Now I like hot lesbians as much as the next guy but other then for porn I don't like same sex...well, sex.

The question is should it be legal. Not do you like it.
You reason for not letting someone live a more rich life, is just because you don't like it?
If that's the rules, we should outlaw every show on The Disney Channel.

is not about "marriage"

is about having the same RIGHTS THAT YOU ENJOY and I don't

Fuck I can't really think of any response that doesn't make me sound like a homophobic idiot. I'm all for equal rights for all races/sexual preference/whatever I just don't like the idea of gay marriage (yeah I know I just went agains my own beliefs). Marriage, in my opinion, is so a man and woman who love each other can be together and have kids/raise a family and the kids can carry on the family name. And that can't happen in a same sex marriage; they can be together and love each other but its missing the whole idea of procreation.

I know there's adoption and whatever but that doesn't always work out - a lot of people think sexual preference was something you're born with and not something you're taught/learn; so if the kid isn't destined to become homosexual then it isn't fair to the kid to have two homosexual parents. Lets look at it this way; I'm straight and my life is just fine. But If I had been raised by two dads my life would suck! I'd be ridiculed in school and I probably wouldn't have many (if any) friends because it would be very hard to find friends who are accepting.

Actually you'd still have friends.  You just wouldn't be friends with assholes who have issues with your parents.

In every country that lets gays marry, nothing goes wrong.  In every country that lets gays adopt, nothing goes wrong.  It is far healthier to have 2 gay parents than to have 1 straight parent.  The number of parents is far more important than the sexuality.  (And no, your parents NEVER make you gay or make you straight.  Straight parents can't turn their gay kids straight, and gay parents can't turn their straight kids gay.  Ever.)

In some places they celebrate having 2 dads.  By singing on television.

Bullying at school is kind of a non-argument. You could get bullied for being fat, wearing braces, wearing glasses, not being good at sports and a whole bunch of other things. Doesn't mean bullying is not an issue, but the idea is to make bullies stop, not to conform to what they demand/don't like. Either way in most school environments bullies will find something to dislike about someone, even objectively good things like studying and getting good grades.

Regarding what some said about gay couples having the right to suffer through marriage as much as straight couples... well, I kind of have to agree that marriage is going downhill as an institution. There are a lot of people who manage and are happy with some picture book traditional marriage, plenty of people who manage to split their family duties in accordance with their way of life that doesn't match older traditions; but divorce rate is up there and there is a lot of disbalance. E.g. often hearing that the most discriminated against group in the Western world is the white heterosexual married man (they get indeed pretty roughted up in divorces); or on the other hand having women working the usual 8hrs day and coming back home to do all the housework and mind the kids; kids being spoiled brats (by way of too much entertainment) or maybe not getting any attention from parents (maybe due to lack of time and being tired) etc etc.

Well, I've witnessed my parents' messed up marriage and my brother's one as well, and the word marriage does carry more negative connotations for me than positive ones. Legal/property rights and adoption would be enough for me, I don't want to call whatever I do "marriage" and equate it to what marriage has been for some thousands of years.

Okay I'm done with this thread after this post.

Just for the record I'm not homophobic, I have 1 or 2 friends who I think (they haven't admitted it) are homosexual and I don't have a problem with it because they're decent guys.

And when I say I don't think gays should be able to get married that's just my opinion on the subject, I'm not saying my opinion should be the law. Does that make sense to you guys?

The one thing I do believe (which may piss people off) is that I don't think a homosexual couple should be able to adopt children. If you are in a homosexual relationship you should be able to accept the fact that having children is not a physical possibility. Now if a man and a woman are married and one of them is impotent that's different because that's a genetic/physical problem stopping them from having kids, it wasn't their choice.

For a gay couple it wasn't their choice either

What you're saying is the equivalent of "I have black friends but I don't think they should have equal rights to white people."

Seriously, think about it. Are you trying to justify your homophobia to us or yourself?

I am for:

marijuana legalization

separation of church and state

I am against:

the death penalty

school vouchers

I'm unsure on Marijuana legalisation, and school vouchers seem like a good idea, but I agree on everything else.
