One day I wanted to play Super Smash Bros. Brawl but my Wii didn't read the disc. I discover that some Wiis sometimes have issues reading double layer DVDs. I spend 14 dollars for an official Wii lense cleaner which didn't help. Then I go to Nintendo's repair service website and it said they will repair my Wii for free.
That very day I accidently broke the Wii disc drive by dropping it when I took the Wii out to package it for shipping. It would make funny noises when it started up and it would rarely take a disc and if it did it was difficult to eject the disc. So I was like "uh oh, are they are going to charge extra for this"?
I went to UPS and they shipped it (Nintendo paid for the shipping) and less than a week later I get my Wii back but in better looking condition. If I didn't know any better I would say they gave me a brand new Wii. My old Wii had scratches, cracks, and dents everywhere. Or they could have just replaced the casing.
The only downside is that everything that I have saved on my Wii was lost and trust me I had a lot saved. I still can redownload stuff of the Wii shop channel I paid for and I still have my measly 11 Wii points.
I still appreciate Nintendo for going the extra mile with no expenses on my behalf.
