If EVERY Fat Ps3 has been affected.

How will those people who don't have it connected to the internet (which seems a lot) fix the problem if it is fixed via a update?

Seriously what an epic fuck up.

They could create a GUEST login for all users that only has access to PS3 updates.

They can also downlaod the update to a USB Flash Drive and install it from that.

They could send out a CD with the fix on it to all who ask for it.

They could also disable the requirement for authentication/copyright check on the PSN allowing anyone with a valid PW to connect to the PSN. (this could be very dangerous though as it would alow any decent hacker free access to the PSN).

Sony releases its FW updates on Game discs. And I think they would send you a CD with a FW Update if you have no chance to connect to the Internet or if you just dont have your PS3 connected then they send it per email and you can download it on an USB Stick and install from the stick its not that big of a problem. people with no clue call Sony and Sony helps them.
Thats how they will fix this.

First bold sentence: (for all not for you because I read this question all the time):

Not all Fat PS3s are affected all Fat models which beginns with CECHL or CECHP are not affected you can see this if you look at the bottom of your PS3.

To the second bold sentence:

I agree but it probably wont be as bad as some might think not all PS3s are affected (50%) and you probably wont loose anything. Because trophies are saved also online if your trophies are just on your home PS3 then you have bad luck.

A CD disc....

Man i feel sorry for those people if they can't play their consoles until they get that!

As for the hardware failure thingy i was just kidding.

However this would have to be counted as a hardware failure seeing as it is the machines themself that are broken, it is nothing to do with PSN as millions of people are not even connected to it and have the same problem.

To me a hardware fault simply means that, something that stops it from working. Can wrap it up in whatever you like but that is the reality of it. if something is not working then it is broken is it not?

As far as not seeing this happen.. With a major issue like this, Sony will do this and more to help clear it's name and gain consumer confidence. In fact, I even see them going as far as giving out PSN dollars to any effected user, provided they fill out the required form and thier serial number is verified.
