It was a joke because of the date your PS3 is showing 12/31/1999. (you dont remember all the fuss around the millenium bug)

No I'm not talking about them, people on other forums. And that was the millenium bug when it turned 2000 that has nothing to do with leap year. Leap year is where we have 2/29 an extra day added to february.

Why would a PSN crash stop you playing a single player game?

 

Also why would a PSN crash corrupt PSN themes?  Even themes that were not being used.

 

 

I also read on anothe rforum that several games are failing to start, also that someone who tried to play LBP had all his DLC wiped like he never bought it.

My gf's kids had their LBP stuff dissapear today as well. I just did a HDD switch for them and thought that maybe the restore messed up their content file.....but now it looks like maybe not. Alot of very wierd things happening today.

But you still had a connection to the internet right? I think it has something to do with the PSN directly. That once the PSN stopped working the trophies stopped working. I think it has nothing to do with teh internet but the PSN.

I think I should point something out about trophies that may help understand whats going on.  Trophies, as well as profile info, are stored not only on your PS3, but on servers as well.  When you view your trophies and it says "syncing with server" it is updating your trophies with the server they are stored on.  You will notice it only does this when you have acquired new trophies.

I have no idea why a server issue would not allow you to view them locally though, particularly if you completely disconnect from the internet and attempt to view them.  Seems like a very weird error.

And I think it must be server issues, I can't even check my PSN trophies online. (at work now can't check on ps3)

The same thing just happened to me when I was playing Ratchet and Clank. The time reverted to 12/31/99 and I can't log into PSN.

 

Edit: I was looking around and my Ratchet and Clank trophies disappeared. This is really really strange.

I've only played Heavy Rain offline, and I've been able to get trophies.
