Can anyone tell me why it'd be ok to purchase a Wii now and not have it be a waste of money and time? I know the systems 4 years old, and that sorta worries me. I'd also like to know if there's any games to look forward to, and some games that most people don't know about that I might be interested in |
Why it'd be ok and not have it be a waste of money and time? Well I can't speak for you, I can only speak for myself, but just between what was in 2009-2010 and what is coming in 2010, there are way way more good to great games than I have time or will have even well into 2011...
It all depends on your tastes. Some 2009 games you might want to consider, in no particular order:
Metroid Trilogy
A Boy and His Blob
Rabbids Go Home

Klonoa
House of the dead: Overkill
Muramasa
Cursed Mountain
Silent Hill: Shattered Memories
Overlord: Dark Legend (opinions differ)
Dead Space Extraction
Final Fantasy Crystal Bearers (opinions differ greatly)
Little Kings Story
NPC Pikmin
Boom Blox Bash Party
Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars
Tiger Woods 10 (with MotionPlus)
Shaun White Snowboarding (if you get a balance board)
Rune Factory Frontier
2010 games already out that are worthy of anyone's time:
Tatsunoko vs. Capcom
No More Heroes 2
The Sky Crawlers: Innocent Aces
Endless Ocean: Blue World
Shiren The Wanderer
Some Wiiware titles:
World of goo

Fragile
Red Steel 2
Monster Hunter Tri
Arc Rise Fantasia
Sin and Punishment 2
Metroid Other M
Mario Galaxy 2
De Blob 2
Cave Story
(and there are other other major games that might be coming in 2010 but don't have a definite release date like Epic Mickey, Zelda Wii, Xenoblade and Last Story)

Yes, I own a PS3, PSP, and DSi. My PS3 library tends to be the biggest, and I'm buying the Wii as a secondary console. And what other people said, I'm going to get Brawl no doubt. I own Okami for the PS2 though. I'm pretty sure I'm gonna get one now. I'm just deciding what two games I want to get with it when I purchase it. I'm thinking of New Super Mario Bros Wii right now, but I'm not sure what else. |
NSMBWii is a great choice (especially if you have other people to play it with, then it's an absolute must). If you're just thinking of a second game to get the Wii with for now, make it Metroid Trilogy, for 3 good reasons:
3 great games, superb value for money (3 great games for less than $50), and the collector's edition is being discontinued.
Currently Playing: Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked, Professor Layton and the Curious Village

While true, it sucks if you bought your Wii after these games have been out for 2-3 years and see they're still going for the same price. I have the firm belief that games should depreciate over time and it's frustrating that this isn't the case with Nintendo games. No player's choice from Nintendo this gen makes that even worse.

But why? It's not like the publishers decrease game prices for their health or due to some unwritten code. They lower game prices to move units, which again clearly is not the case.
(looks at OP's avatar): Klonoa remake on Wii. Should be well into the depths of the bargain bin by now, but it is there and rather excellent, from what i've heard.
Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.
Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I know which games I'm interested in now and want to get, but I'm running into a new problem now. Some of the stores don't seem to have Wii's. Is it still that hard to get, or am I just checking the wrong stores? Does anyone know a good way to get one?
I'm also looking at online sites and their stocks seem to be out too. I didn't think it'd be this hard to get a Wii almost 4 years later. Especially considering almost everyone has one by now.
if you're planning on having your wii as a complementary console, then i would suggest you to wait for the $150 dollar price point.
