Yes, it is awesome. I am glad you discovered that.

A few of the games intrigue me, but intrigue isn't enough for me to consider purchase. And that has been announced as exclusive, there are only 2 games that scream out to me, neither of which can hold up to the $150 system price (split among both, of course), in addition to the $60 game price. I've not paid $210 for any game (let alone $150), and I'm not about to start now. I won't lie, either, in that I'm also skeptical of Sony systems, as in my experience, they have the highest fail rates. (Yes, I know it's a single point of data, but it's my own; we tend to believe most what we see ourselves.) We've gone through 4 PS1s, and are on the the 3rd PS2. (We have another brand new PS2 in the closet for when the current one dies.) The higher price of the PS3, coupled with the higher proportion of people reporting failures this gen, has effectively scared us off. And while we were scared with the 360 also, enough games coupled with a cheaper price and a 3-year warranty are why we went with it, and it's why also, only the exclusives for the PS3 can be considered to getting it. That aside, the migration of most of the good RPGs to the portable market means I will be looking harder at any console purchase next gen. With the exception of the early spurt of 360 RPGs (which is what pushed us over), there have been too few RPGs for my taste for any home console. And the funny thing is, Sony is sitting on a few RPG names themselves, like Wild Arms and Legend of the Dragoon. If Sony starts releasing new ones of these for the PS3, then I might take another look... |
Ummm . . . what?
PS3 is great. The games are excellent.
I never thought I would enjoy it more than my 360, but I do, a lot more.
Fuck... I'm dead!

that's fair enough dunno, the PS3 is not cheap,
you say good rpg's,don't you think there are quite alot of rpg's out at the moment,it seem's like loads to me,
i'm just finishing valkyia chronicles and playing demons souls, then there is the star ocean international one,WKC,ROF,FFXIII.TLR,ME2,DAO and a couple of ones i can't spell or remember like that ar tonelico, let alone the oblivions, fall outs, sacreds and fables
what ones are you into,is it the monster hunters, dragon quests and pokemons, which i know nothing about but can only assume they are some form of rpg's,
haha,i think no one can complain about a lack of rpg's after that list, that lot would keep you in the house for about 3 years solid, probably more
Your Right the PS3 is great, no one is talking about 360 here dumb ass, go to a 360 thread, Heavy Rain looks really good, GOW3 demo is really old code, so when you buy the game and play it, it will look much better, MAG is a really fun shooter ounce you learn the game and have some good players on your team, Lots of really great games for PS3 congrads and enjoy.

Well, Valkyria Chronicles is one that I'm intrigued by, and would probably do more research into should I start considering the system. Demon's Souls is one of the 2 games that I was initially referencing in my post, the other being 3D-Dot Game Heroes. Star Ocean and FF13 are both availiable on a system I already own. The Last Remnant... that was that NIS game wasn't it? I don't trust NISA's ability to proofcheck games after the travesty of Rhapsody on DS and Ar Tonelico 2 on PS2. This also rules out AT3, and even if it didn't, AT3's strong steer toward more fanservice with the bad jokes (a series staple) would push me away. Admittingly, I don't know much about White Knight Chronicles or Resonance of Fate, but something about them just wasn't screaming out to me. And regarding WRPGs, those typically aren't my cup of tea. I may check them out once the system is here, but they will not influence my purchase of said system.
So what do I like? I like RPGs with a classical feel; my favorite this gen on console so far has been FF4: The After Years. Otherwise, I want it to do something that hooks me in, gives me this "wow" feeling, if you will. Some of the games I don't have much info on might do that, but even if I did decide that I wanted all 3 of the questionable knowns, that still leaves me at 5 total, or a cost up to $120 per game, still more than I've paid for all but 1 game. (And I was very reluctant to pay that price for Suikoden 2...)
Oh, and dirk, if you're addressing me with that last post, you're not going to sell me with those games or that attitude.

I have a ps3, xbox 360 and a wii. My xbox gets 80% gametime my wii gets 20% gametime, my ps3 is a bluray player that takes 20 minutes worth of updates and installs when i want to play a game which is not very often. If it wasn't for disgaea 3 and uncharted 2 it would have remained gameless for a whole year
nintendo and sega fan since i was old enough to hold a game controller.
note: my games collection on my profile is only 20ish% complete, i've got a boatload of 360,saturn and dreamcast games to add and a few ps3 games, thanks :)

I understand what do you mean, Ps3 is seriously an expansive system.....not the price of the console itself but their games usually costs more than those on Wii or 360.... I just wanted to buy heavy rain for example, 70euros, definetly it's not whort it. But, even thought so the Ps3 is worth its price, is an excellent media player and has a great and complete game library, it is also the best blu-ray player on the market. Still I don't think either that exclusives alone are a sufficient reason to choose it over the 360....Seroisly I don't see the reason to own a Ps3 if you're already got the 360 in terms of gaming, they're really very similar consoles. Still I have bought the Ps3 after 360 because of its mulltimedia capabilites, I personally like very much to watch movies and listen to music as much as I like play videogames. What I mean is that If you consider the Ps3 only as a gaming system, the price difference compared to 360 it's not justified, but If you consider it as a universal entertaing console it's probably one of the most cost-effective systems ever made. As for failures....I have cahnged 2 ps3's in one year, thank god the warranty was still valid when it happened, but now the ps3 slim is more reliable, I guess. |
It really is. I only does EVERYTHING!

The guy bought a ps3 and found a game he likes....so he is 'reccomending' the same action to others...stop being an ass about it.....if you don't like such threads...don't go to them....or buy a ps3 yourself to get over the bitterness....
anywho for the poster: Good to hear it mate :) have fun...have yet to get HR (waiting till the end of the term to get it) but I will be definitely picking it up ;)
