Forums - Sales Discussion - Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles Crow Eating Thread

Well I was wrong about the Japanese sales of RE: UC. I never thought it well sell as well as the Japanese analyst predicted and frankly I thought they were off their rocker. While it didn't sell 100k, I never thought it would hit the 70k in one week, let alone one day. So I'm serving up a large amount of crow and I'm willing to share. Who else needs a bite?

Maybe we should have a general crow-eating thread. I might have to post there a few times...

Can someone explain "crow eating" to me? I understand what it implies, but where did this come from? I'm apparently tragically behind the times when it comes to internet memes. =P

We don't provide the 'easy to program for' console that they [developers] want, because 'easy to program for' means that anybody will be able to take advantage of pretty much what the hardware can do, so the question is what do you do for the rest of the nine and half years? It's a learning process. - SCEI president Kaz Hirai

It's a virus where you buy it and you play it with your friends and they're like, "Oh my God that's so cool, I'm gonna go buy it." So you stop playing it after two months, but they buy it and they stop playing it after two months but they've showed it to someone else who then go out and buy it and so on. Everyone I know bought one and nobody turns it on. - Epic Games president Mike Capps

We have a real culture of thrift. The goal that I had in bringing a lot of the packaged goods folks into Activision about 10 years ago was to take all the fun out of making video games. - Activision CEO Bobby Kotick

They had internet in the 1800s?  So then how old is Al Gore?

This should shed a little light on Sinha's comment..

"..just keep on trying 'till you run out of cake"

Well I was optimistically skeptical about the 100k number. Still 70k is still a good number.

I know you believe you understand what you think I said but I don't think you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.

Eh... eating crow way, WAY predates the Internet. But that's okay, I had a coworker today who didn't know who Billy Joel was. Everyone has things they haven't been exposed to.

So say we all, yo.

Hahah I went with 30k (IIRC) and even started a topic about poor sales of this game.  I was reffering to US though. Anyway, here I am. Humble.

Well that explains it, thanks.
