OK, the shortages seem more serious than I expected. Today when I went into Media Markt in Groningen (Netherlands) there was none to be found.

A couple of weeks ago they still had many new pallets full of PS3s. For a while the PC gaming, PS2 and 360 sections were also overloaded with PS3s at this megastore, so I did not expect to see this.

Sony are undershipping, can someone explain why they may be doing this?

It seems they have miscalculated and expected the 6.5 million PS3s sold last quarter to last them longer at retail.

Hopefully for interested people they can solve this before Final Fantasy XIII and God of War 3 hit the market.

what do you mean by "overloaded"? ps3's section eats(biggest) 360's Section ?
Well, shortage is in netherlands too... so, that mean ps3 is selling more tha 360 also in netherlands.

Some time ago, the PS3s were so much in stock around here the Playstation section and hallway was too cramped with a new major delivery of PS3s they had to put hundreds of them in the XBox 360 and PC Gaming sections as well.

Now however there's not 1 PS3 to be found despite there were some product shipments a few weeks ago when I visited.

Yes?  It's numbers are still right by the 360's.   Their is nothing in the last few months that should of been causing massive shortages. I mean they're about on target with their shipment numbers afterall... which they predicted.

To have shortages you'd of expected their shipped number to be way higher last financial report.

But this didn't start happening until after the shortages began.

And even with the shortages, we still recieve more 120gb systems than 250gbs at GameStop.  We simply sell them far quicker, so it's less likely you'll be able to find one in stock.
