Ok first of all this is not hating on FFXIII.  Im just saying its not living up to the MASSIVE HYPE it got for the last couple of years.  On topic, I certainly think it will live to expectations AS LONG as it stays an exclusive.  I mean we all know how good it turned out with a certain game *coughFFXIIIcough*.  Anyways from what most of us have seen so far, Noctis is a pretty badass character(im sure anyone that reads this thread has seen what he did to those soldiers in that trailer) who is being compared to Cloud a lot.  This thread is not meant to bash on the Xbox360 or FFXIII.  I am a really big FF fan and FFXIII is a pretty good game that ill be getting from day 1.  So, do you think Versus will live up to our expectations unlike FFXIII?

Almost no big game has lived up to its hype, the only ones I can really think of are Uncharted 2, Batman, ACII and Mass Effect 2. But then you can look at MW 2, GTA IV and many many more that did not quite live up in many fans eyes

Anyway, it is has been so hyped since THAT E3 that it can't live up to its hype, especially as its hype is almost entirely based on nothing

it's up to the devs.

SE hasn't showed that they are capable of creating an amazing game on HD consoles yet, so even though I have high hopes for Versus, I'm not going to assuming it is going to be better than XIII.

1. How hasn't Final Fantasy XIII lived up to the hype? Japanese gamers seem to love it and it's characters and it is bound to sell very well.

2. Versus 13 will live up to any hype it has surrounding it. It's Nomura.

How do we know if FFXIII lived up to it's expectations or not? The only ones who have played it are the Japanese and those who imported it.
We have to wait a couple of months before the final judgement.

About FFvXIII, I don't know at all what to expect and for now I just hope they have something to show at E3.

Nothing could have lived up to FFXIII's expectiations, not even FFXIII versus. Due to it's exclusivity, more PS3 fans are now more interested, and will be MUCH more lenient about any flaws it might have. So yes, by virtue of being an exclusive it will live up to a lot of people's expectations, regardless of it's relative merits. (This applies to a lot of exclusives on all platforms BTW, I'm not ripping Sony fans)

I'll let you know with XIII releases in the states as I have no clue if it lived up to expectations yet.

Im guessing you didnt ride the FFXIII hype train for the last couple of years.  If you had been hyped as some gamers were, youd be pretty dissapointed from what was expected.  FFXIII is still a great game, but not as great as it should have been and what it was expected to be.

And about Versus,  Nomura stated like a day ago that Versus may not appear in E3 at all.  We may not know until E3 is before us.  I also hope that they show something though.

I was never hyped for FFXIII but even if I was I would have to play the game before judging it.
