Really good post by c0rd.

Why not? They proved this gen that if they play their cards right it is possible to do great things.

maybe if they has brought out the xbox 720 with natal built in but as they will bring it out for the 360 means its gives sony and nin time to make a copycat machine if it become successful

SKEEZER AND NINTENDO FAN GIRL ARE MY NEMESIS

YES TO BEER

Of course. They beat Nintendo last gen and sony this gen. If they could somehow sell more consoles in japan, then I would expect them to be first world wide.

Not a 360 fanboy, just a PS3 fanboy hater that likes putting them in their place ^.^

Yes, America is the world.

Forum goers seem to be very satisfied with what Microsoft has done this generation and then there's the thing that you rarely see negative articles about anything 360 in the gaming media. Pretty much anything negative comes from bloggers these days while we still see regularly editorials from major gaming websites about Sony's and Nintendo's shortcomings.

It looks like Microsoft has yet to figure out how they can expand this kind of stranglehold into non-English speaking territories.

They are an American company, they do best within cultures which are similar to their own. That means they do best in America and they do worst in Japan. As most English editorials come out of the U.S.A. or the U.K. and these are their strongest markets it makes sense that they are mostly positive towards them.

Well they seem to be doing alright in Europe. Not fantastic, but good enough to keep a foothold there and better than Sony is doing in the U.S.A. relative to them. Noone compares to the Wii of course which is doing fantastic in Europe.

Of course the Wii is doing fantastic, because most of its market doesn't read gaming websites. Sony on the other hand has been in big trouble ever since this generation started and on top of that their own actions weren't favorable in regards to sales. Sony has gotten such a hard beating this gen that a multiplatform game being superior on the PS3 is a big news story now.

Because the market doesn't read message boards?!?! If they read message boards all we'd ever hear about was just how brilliant Nintendo are and how lame the DX9 consoles are!

Tease.

When Microsoft can capture more than Shooter and Sports audiences, they can a win a generation. I think Sony will do something amazing next gen and win it, they had such a hard time since the beginning of this one, I get a feeling they are going to try a unique strategy. Microsoft will need to win over more non-American Territories and do better in Europe to win a generation. I don't think Japan is a big factor anymore since it seems they are more handheld oriented these days.

Odd. Future. Wolf. Gang. Kill. Em. All. OFWGKTA Don't give a fuck!

Fuck Steve Harvey. FREE EARL!

Final Fantasy Versus XIII will be the GREATEST game EVER made!!!

I'd take a bullet for Square-Enix!

Yes.

They've increased their market share this gen, they've diversified away from just selling shooters and Microsoft has the pockets to do it.

I think at some point within the next few gens they'll get a number 1 console. Especially as Japan gets more and more irrelivant from a sales perspective.

Japan is quickly becoming an irrelevant market. The population is dropping, the importance of handhelds is increasing and canibalising the home console market. As the markets in the rest of the world expand I bet that by the middle of next generation there will be no 'Japan' row in the Vgchartz home page.

...a possibility that can't be ruled out though.

God I hope not. Do you see what's happeneing with The PC industry?

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.

Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi

Depends on the evolution of xbox live. If they can pull off a "gaming facebook" with it, they might even win next gen.
