That's all very nice, but effective and well-targeted marketing does not make it one of the best campaigns ever (unless he really hasn't seen any ). He could've said it was an effective, well thought-out, or profitable marketing campaign. He could've said it was a very good or even a great campaign. But instead, he went out of his way and literally called it 'genuinely one of the best campaigns' he's seen. Everyone can see it's clearly not. I'm not saying the campaign wasn't good or effective, obviously it was, it's just not what he said it was (again, unless he's never seen any really good campaings). |
Well I suppose it depend on what you consider "best" but you are probably right. Then again the guy worked for the marketing departement at EA so maybe your are on to something about the "never see a good one before" too.

Australian parents already slammed this game last year, because of its sexually aggressive violence and aggressively violent language.
who cares what these people say, the wii has a game that has the most swearing in a video game lol
I'm actually looking forward to their upcoming game: The Lord of the Rings: Aragorn's Quest. I myself loved the movie based LotR games last generation, and with Headstrong taking the reigns on a LotR game... I'm definitely keeping my eye on that one (two player co-op as well, which is pretty darn awesome).
Good to see Overkill do well, it was a fantastic light gun game. That last scene... whew.

Good marketing doesn't mean big marketing, it mean you get good return for the money invested in it. The marketing wasn't big but it was effective, well targeted and niche. Any idiot can dump 3 millions buck on an Superbowl ad. |
Thats all well and good but after checking your location I think perhaps Sega just didn't invest in the Netherlands on this title. There were assloads of TV ads in the US, US gaming press, and even some Madworld ties in ones if I remember correctly. Not oversaturated, but close. This and Madworld are some of the very third party games that got as much promotion as the average HD title.

I would rather have that JSRWii project that Headstrong originally pitched. I hope Sega reconsiders.
Headstrong seems to be a pretty smart partner though, I'd like to Sega form a longer term relationship with them like they have Sumo Digital. I'd almost trust either more with Sega's classic properties than Sega themselves these days...
"The market is dead for those games"
Right, because the half a million Resident Evil Chronicles 2 pulled with nothing but a solid, if short lived internet ad campaign is "no market".
Hell, a major tv ad campaign probably isnt necessary, just sell the game at a budget price, and watch those numbers fly.
