but i would do whatever i physically could to save anyone important to me.

Please explain? Do you mean its a choice that involves unrelated people?

Well your last statement IS the question at hand. Would you do everything physically possible to save anyone? Would you give up a piece of your finger? Your foot? Your heart? Your soul?

I would take a stranger's life, certainly. I wouldn't give up ALL of my possessions, but perhaps some of them. The end of a little finger I could give up, but not my left hand (I'm left handed). And I certainly wouldn't kill myself.

And yeah, that music really DOES get you in the mood

Yeah, I think 5 should be before 4. Self-preservation is one of the strongest instincts. As is egoism, I think the object of love might well prefer you killing someone unrelated than being dead yourself. Dealing with giving up your life for somebody else's sake is a pretty hard thing IMO (and I hope I never get into that sort of situation), especially if you have to calculate it (as opposed to doing it on an impulse, which takes some of the load off).
But there's also the thing about how the other person feels after that, and whether they are even remotely happy to have their life saved if that meant your death. And you're dead, you don't have to deal with anything anymore, they are the ones who have to.

Yeah, but it's a popular conception that soul>life from Plato to Christians, etc.

You saw it in the Dark Knight too. Your own self preservation, or the right thing? It seemed liked the movie agreed with the former 2.

Yeah. I'm asking if you'll kill a stranger to save your PS3.

When I was younger, I could not imagine giving up my life for anything or anyone, let alone some fleeting, existential nonsense like love. Now, though, I have a wife of ten years and two young children. Looking into the eyes of either of my children, I now know what unconditional love truly means. I have lived a good life, so if the need were to arise, I hope I would have the courage to lay down my life for my children without hesitation.

Would you take from another man, just like you, his wife and two young children in order to save your own?

Which would pick? Love or morality?

It's related to a PS3 exclusive...

Well when I posted I'm pretty sure there was no video there. At least I don't remember seeing one, but now it makes sense, hehe.

person A (who i love) and person B are both on the train track and i can only save one.. that kind of thing? or like, actively killing someone?

because if its the former, then you'd have to consider who person B is - is it a child, a mother, etc. I think its the sort of action i'd HAVE to make impulsively.

but if it was an active killing, then that's what i meant by "its not really anything to do with me". why should i ever need to kill someone in order to save someone else? What situation would i ever be in? Unless something like the Saw movies happened, and that thought scares the shit of me. Ugh.

:(

If you don't know the topic, why are you entering the conversation?

Mother bias!

it feels like the father is the useless part of the family that none cares if he is dead or not, he just sit there sucking it all up.
