I hate this statements from every company,

No, consumers will move on if the console no longer receives support.

Sony killed the PS2, not consumers.

I'm quite surprised I'm the only one who reads this news as Project Natal only lasting 5 year tops, as it literally says. Everybody here is talking about the 360's lifespan for obvious reasons. But what should be the main concern is NATAL WILL BE DEAD IN 2015! WTF? How can you introduce so-called revolutionary technology that's supposed to change the game (ala mouse for the PC, as Molyneux put it) and claim it'll only last 5 years? what?? What's their next console supposed to be based on if it comes in 2012, 2013 tops? won't the next Xbox (it will debut in less than 5 years you can bet your house* on that) use Natal technology? Microsoft is already saying NO. So games using Natal this gen won't be compatible with their next-gen console, and it'll be a totally different thing?

5 yrs w/ it as an accessory and the latter half of that time built into the 360+ (hopefully starting in Nov.)

This is good news although I am not really into the flailing around bit....

Title doesn't really fit what he actually says.

Exactly... it could verry well be compatible with the Nextbox, if it achieves the success level MS wants, or if they want to take a second shot at it, if it actually fails...

Did you read the same quote I did?

The richness of the technology is going to really enable experiences that never had existed before. And we’re not just speaking about what we’re doing this year, but I think two, three, four, five years from now as this evolves.”

You would think but in reality it is the console manufacturers who decide. Once sales fall off they could decide that is the saturation point and focus on software sales. This rarely happens and probably should and may happen this gen. It is the manufacturers who decide you need to buy the new must console and us the leemings jump off the cliff with our credit cards outstretched.

What he means is that Natal 2 will be out in 5 years, not that Natal will be dead. Imaging processing is scaling on Moore's law as much as computer chips are. Within 5 years we'll be talking about 20MP cameras being common point and shoot devices. Likely a replacement to Natal would have 4-5* the accuracy and video quality.

Tease.

Well probably. With companies constantly losing money on next gen titles I think It's going to be awhile before we see another system. Tho it really depends on Nintendo's next move because they are first place.

It's just that simple.

Alright we already know from hiring ads Microsoft has posted that work on their next gen system has already begun. Chances are the system will launch next year. I'm guessing Natal will be cross compatable inabling gamers to play their Natal's on the next X-Box.
