... is there any chance Nintendo use UMD or a similar media in their next handheld? It just came to my mind now, and I think it's possible they use a compact disc media in DS' successor, what do you think?

i prefer a big arse cartridge to fit in the handheld slot just like the sega gamegear lol
I think that Nintendo's next handheld will either go digital or stick to cartridges. Maybe both.
UMD was one of the problems with the PSP. I don't see why Nintendo would want to go disc-based.
I don't think they would go there. I heard rumors about cartridges are getting cheaper
Why would they ever go to an optical disc? Especially one created and solely utilized by their biggest competitor?
Flash cards are getting such high capacities, small sizes and cheaper production that it would be foolish to use a battery draining, slow loading, bulky optical medium.
UMD - 1.8 GB - $0.50 - 1.00?
SD - 2 GB - $6.00 retail.
SDHC - 4 GB - $8.00 retail.
By the time the next Nintendo handheld is launched, those flash memory prices will be down even further and buying bulk from the manufacturer would easily bring costs down to UMD costs yet with all the benefits and none of the drawbacks.
The rEVOLution is not being televised
Nintendo better not use umds.I think cartridges are perfect for handheld gaming and discs should remain on consoles.
