Forums - Sony Discussion - Yamauchi Hits Out At Gran Turismo Competitors WOW!

Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi has hit out at driving games released since Gran Turismo 4 in 2004, saying that the 'low level of quality really shines through'.

In an interview with Eurogamer.dk, Yamauchi was asked whether he may implement features from different games in future Gran Turismo games, he replied;

"Actually I find it difficult to play the other games in more than five minutes at a time. The game's low level of quality really shines through in the other games and I can not hold them out!"

You'll have to wait and find out whether Gran Turismo 5 lives up to the standard of the incredible series when it releases later this year in Europe and America.

Sigh... childish remark. Don't go all Turn 10 now...

Why would he attack other racing sims? He must have really high standards.

He is a perfectionist that is why. Nothing wrong with that. and it is his own opinion so I don't see how he is being childish. In his mind he sees them as low quality. It isn't as if he said that the games were trash/garbage.

Eurogamer: when you look back at the games that have appeared since the GT4 – with Forza Motorsport as the highest title – see you so things you want to deploy in the GT series? Features which have brought the genre a step forward? Or developer in Gran Turismo in a form of vacuum, where in ignores its competitors?

Kazunori Yamauchi: the last is actually exactly what we do. We as Europeans not to other games while we develop Gran Turismo – it is based solely on what we want to achieve with the game. Actually I find it difficult to play the other games in more than five minutes at a time. The game's low level of quality really shines through in the other games and I can not hold them out!

maybe something lost in translation? It is possible. We need to see what was really meant in his native tongue?

It is odd that Yamauchi Kazunori would say this after the Foza Motorsports developers made a lot out of GT5s long development.

Bad translation... I was actually surprised, but its all clear now

Vote the Mayor for Mayor!

Just probably he was talking about it's hard for him to go back to GT4 or any of the older Gran Turismos because he sees in them some low level of quality from what he now upholds.

At least that's what I got from that akward translation o.o
