Imo, the younger gamers will go nuts all over the internet, from Nintendo and Sony side.
The grew up at the same time that video games did will not care.
I personally don't give a toss who wins this xmas, but i would be surprise if Sony wins (you have to admit that 2007 hasn't been the best PR and Marketing year for Sony)
I owned every single console in the past, apart from the Xbox, because it didn't appeal enough to me to buy it earlier on its life time; and when I was planning in getting a cheap second hand one the 360 came out.
This generation, I've got a Wii, and I'm really happy with it. I'm planning on getting a 360 this Xmas as it has right now the best line up of games and incredible online service (little details like being able to replay to a message from a friend without quitting it make it the best navigational console of them)
I'll get a PS3 way later on; first because there are no games that appeal to my tastes, second it HAD and incredibly stupid price (right now is reaching a normal one) and third, I don't like the attitude of putting Blu-rays on the house of average Joe, making him believe that he needs that expensive technology, because if don't don't see things in 1080p you're a loser.
If they release another part of ICO and Shadow of the colossus, I'll be first in the queue getting one.
As a gamer, I don't care who wins this Xmas.
As a consumer, I wouldn't like Sony winning with the PS3, because it would proof them that they can do anything not related to games, charge for technology that nobody needs and be successful.
Changes happen because people complaint, that's how we got paid overtime, health insurance and all those services which make our life better.
I think that companies shouldn't win all the time as it will force them to improve their products and ethics.
Sorry for the long post, I'm bored to death at the office. :p
