Favorite: 5. Hated: 1.

I played a demo cd on RE1 at a Sears and disliked it so much that I avoided the series since then. I only gave 5 a shot because I read that it was different than the others and didn't feel like a RE game.

yes 5 was different, it practically screwed up the franchise, none of the elements in 5 had anything from the previous series. atleast 4 you could see it.

You will find it is RE4 that had no elements from previous RE games, not RE5.   Where was the evil company, the bio-weapons from viruses, the story that had anything to do with the rest of the series.   Just change the names of Leon and Ada and literally 2-3 words of speech and RE4 loses anything to link it to other games.

I agree with KylieDog (never thought this day would come)

RE4 is game that "featured" some RE charters, it didn't feel like any RE game at all

RE4 felt like a western action game (and a great one too)

RE5 continued what RE4 started, but after the shock RE4 gave me, RE5 was pretty much what i expected

So i ended up liking it

If you like 4 you gotta love 5 because they are the same (but RE5 have better graphics lol)

I think the one thing people hate about RE5 is the co-op mechanic. RE4 may have only had a few things linking it to previous games but the fact that you were alone most of the times really amped up the tension and atmosphere. RE5 since Sheva or a buddy was always present kind of took that away and just made it feel completely different.

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.

Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi

my favorite was RE1.

I don't hate any of them, i don't think it was a good idea to use the word hate. The one i like the least is RE5 by quite a bit really.

currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X

But, RE4and 5 are not horror games. They are action game

incorporating online play & co-op is the next logical step.

RE5 is exactly what i was expecting and am surprised how some of you didn't 0_o

Btw: In silent hill 2 and 4 i had a buddy too (well.......kindoff)

and you know what it was still scary....maybe more scary >_>

If the games is scary it will still be scary even if was 4 player Co-op

So i don't consider that's a minus (imo)

No i dissagree.I loved resi4 but resi5 was nothing like 4.4 had its atmosphere and a different scenario, resi 5 was pointless

At least post something to back up such empty claims.

Village:

RE4 - check, RE5 - check

Castle:

RE4 - check, RE5 - check (underground temple same environment pretty much.

Starts off daytime and turns to nightime:

RE4 - check, RE5 - check

Linear level design:

RE4 - check, RE5 - check

...and so on.

Sorry i dont judge you if 5 is your favorite.but you say about my claims and look at yours its so laughable.By checking what both game had itis dumb.guns check - characters check - bosses check. So with your logic resi5 had ssooooo much in common with resi1!!!!!

REsident evil 4 was the first to get the series to a different lever and many hated it(about that).thats true.they said its was far way from the series.i agree.but it was brilliant.an amazing atmosphere.this sepia style.all the mysterie about the non zombie virus.the conspiracy.the different areas.the creepyyyyyy regenerators!i was so stuck to this game.it was perfect.

Resi 5 when a say was pointless its simple.it had nothing.no horror -check.no atmosphere -check .no brain -check.annoying partner -check.doin the same and the same things check.you got my point(-less).its the worst game on my ps3 that i have played.not because it was a bad game generally.but it had nothing.NOTHING.I remember nothing from it.No thrills....

so i hope i made you understand...

Most liked: RE4. No more shitty controls! Huzzah!

Most hated: Code Veronica. The game tricked me into entering the last boss fight with a pistol and virtually no ammo and I didn't have another save to backtrack and fix it. Laaaaaaaaaaammmeee.

RE3 was pretty freakin' weak as well. In fact, I didn't like any of the games once I played Silent Hill and saw that Japanese companies were capable of making 3D horror games without nerfed controls to make it exceedingly difficult.

Well you have to know that for survival horror games you have to keep your best weapons and ammo for bosses and just try to use your least powerful weapons for zombies and other regular enemies...

Thanks, I've never played a survival horror game before.

If you remember what happens in Code Veronica, they switch characters right before the end of the game and I happened to have almost all my good weapons on the other character because I was expecting a boss fight soon. They switched characters and I was caught with my pants down and no save point to go back and fix it.

It was a pretty weak game element, being able to share weapons through the inventory boxes but then leaving the player out in the cold during the endgame if one character was armed much better than the other.

Or check out my new webcomic: http://selfcentent.com/

Best RE 3
Worst RE 5

Resi5 has alot in common with resi1????
and resi5 is better than resi4?????
what can i say...you have left me speechless...

Yeah I have several friends that have gone through the same. Luckily I always saved my game on about 3 to 4 different slots...
