This week's Famitsu (via Andriasang) confirms Capcom's Lost Planet 2 will include offline split-screen co-op when it releases May 18. Series producer Jun Takeuchi told Joystiq last year at GamesCom that the developer was working on couch co-op for the game, which already features four player online co-op.

The split screen will reportedly be similar to Resident Evil 5's staggered screens, maintaining the aspect ratio and cutting down on the hardware requirements. So, go ahead and play Lost Planet 2snuggled with a buddy on the couch or drinking beers with the spouse when it releases ... wait, reverse that.

man this just makes me even happier about this game :D

Looking good, i think i'll like this more then WKC for these reasons...

1. there both 4 Player co-op online, but LP2 is more action packed.

2. local play, now i can play with the family and the boys while at home! WKC doesn't have this!

3. Graphics for LP2 is still much better looking then WKC, an' it still has character creation!

this will be a great game, hope it doesn't come out near RoF for us in NA.

Oh Rainbird, if you were somehow living here we could play this game together on my Bravia. Thats practically marriage!
