An industry will face problems when it has a business model of beating a dead horse using more and more expensive beating equipment each time it hits the horse it killed.

The industry would benefit from lower cost innovation, that breeds novelty and gets new players interested.

They profited for Jan-Dec 2009, but had a loss by one measure (GAAP) for Oct-Dec 2009. It seems like by non-GAAP measures they profited but I can't really tell. My guess is they moved some of the costs for merging with Blizzard/Vivendi into the current quarter when they knew profits from games like Modern Warfare 2 would be enormous.

Remember when someone posted that "the videogame industry is dying" article? the one that said even though game sales are at an all time high, the current business model is why so many devs are going under and major publishers are posing loses? Well... Yeah.
