You probably heard Steve Jobs saying Google's "Don't be evil" was "bullshit", but that was just the beginning.

Now it is Googles turn and the godfather of search engines did what it can do best - it erased every original iPad picture in its search engine. Try to google iPad (images) and you will only find fakes that arised before the official press conference a few weeks ago.

Gotta love the competition.

Another explanation was that Apple complained and asked they be yanked down -- and Google complied.

Although I didn't see any "chilling effects" notice

While I am by no means an apple supporter, and think that the ipad is the biggest waste of R&D funding this century, I am going to have to take their side on this one. Google's ability and willingness to censor stuff like this is downright Orwellian. Now I'm glad I switched to bing a few months ago.

Best of luck to Google! Destroy Apple and their overpriced products!

Yes, just like Microsoft should have destroyed Apple 13 years ago so that none of us would have been subjected to the iPod, iPhone, Music Store, or constant laptop updates that every other manufacturer straights rips from Apple's design team.

It's funny how so many of you absolutely LOVE products that are so heavily dependant on Apple's original pioneering design but want to see the Cupertino company burn in hell for all eternity.

Yeah, that makes sense.

Apple have pretty much brought nothing to the table. They just see someone elses product and then make it more accessible to people. It's there marketing technique that sells the product. Like the iPhone is the biggest rip off ever. It's not even a smart phone really. The features you get with it are years behind most smartphones out there. And they keep changing the specs in it.

Mac OS is good but the apple tax is too expensive for me to buy one.

The iPod is the only apple product I have bought and I will admit I am happy with it since I had it about 3 years and it's still going strong. Don't wanna change it since their newer ones have the volume limit really low.

Also, not every pic of the ipad is banned from google. I didn't really have any trouble finding this one...

Also, it's funny that the  default engine for the ipad is going to be Bing. I love how companies hate each other yet depend on each other for other reasons. It's just like the fact that Sony Vaio's have Windows on them. :) I'm just saying...

Microsoft and Sony love each other really, they just have occasional spats to keep their fans happy.

I cannot understand how anyone could support what google just did. To remove access to any information in a search engine should be a crime. When goverments do it it is bad enough. When companies do it it's even worse. Do you REALLY want Google to be the judge of what information you can access or not?

They didn't delete any of the information...just images from the image search bar. Did you actually bother searching google? :P

It's censorship no matter how you look at it. Google deleted information because they have a grudge against another company.

When you're in the information business and the public relies on you, that is WRONG. It sets a very ugly precedent and shows just how little the modern Google cares about their catchphrase "don't be evil".

That is true. But I still think it could have been a lot worse. If you do a simple search, it will immediately link you to the apple page, which isn't as bad as completely omitting everything ipad related from the search as Killergran suggested.

They didn't delete the information, no. I never said they did. I said they removed access to information (by not giving any real search results for iPad pictures) . When you are a search engine, that's generally a bad idea. When you are a search engine which so many people use to find all their information, that should be criminal.

Now I wonder if fans of google and apple are on eachothers messageboard, trolling the hell out of each other!

Interesting how most people on this thread support google who is the Goliath vs apple who is the david. Interesting when MS was this powerful they are considered the evil empire, and to this day they are still thought of by some that way. But Google who is more powerful than MS is loved.

PS3, WII and 360 all great systems depends on what type of console player you are.

Currently playing Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, Fallout 3, Halo ODST and Dragon Age Origins is next game

Sure what google did is bad. But there are many search engines out there, ok not many.. maybe a few- The same way there are competing apple products out there that you can choose if you dont like their draconian grip. In a lot of ways this isn't a tit-for-tat, its more like a slap in apple's face....

But if you click on the website, generally there is a picture of the item they are looking up. So technically, just taking away the image doesn't really impact that much.

They removed the official iPad images from google image search. It's filled with mockups and pictures from suspect sources instead. They didn't kill the regular searches... yet. But that would be the natural step, wouldn't it? And then they can just delete apple. And then any other competitors they don't like. Fact of the matter is they can send you to any pages they want, and they can keep you away from any pages they want. And they actually do that. I find that mortifying.
