God of War deserves a lot of praise it gets, from the really good gameplay, to level design and execution of the story (and Kratos as a videogame character).  However, God of War had been considered by fans of Devil May Cry as being inferior.  It does some twists, but the debate before Dante's Inferno was that God of War was inferior.  The argument regarding God of War, by its supporters, was that the character and story direction were different, so it is a game in its own right.  The game is said to have its own unique style and that is why it is argued to be different.

Ok, now here comes Dante's Inferno and individuals who are God of War fans.  These same individuals who will defend God of War against Devil May Cry end up putting down as Dante's Inferno as it being a simple knock-off of God of War, and hold up God of War as some sort of super awesome game will fall into the "move a lot of PS3" category.

People who like Devil May Cry keep arguing that God of War isn't as good as Devil May Cry from gameplay to also story, to even the characters.

There's a difference between putting a twist on a game, and making your own game which is equal in quality to the game which gave you a basic idea, and what Dante's Inferno does, which is take the main idea, a fair few of the side ideas, a few ideas of your own, and make an average-decent game.

I personaly see the things god of war does better than Devil May cry or Bayonetta. I do preffer better gamplay mechanics over presentation and shock n awe moments so I would take DMC/Bayonetta over GOW any day.

However I do not see anything that Dantes inferno brings to the table that is better than any of the other games its trying to emulate.

I think all criticism towards dantes inferno is justified in that reguard. And we didn't even get to the fact that the game is tedious, enemies are cheap, combat is slow and messy... even compared to God of War 1.

I think you're missing the point. It's not just paranoid fanboys trying to downplay a game that is similar to a game they like. Dante's Inferno is damn near a carbon copy of God of War's mechanics, only wrapped in a different skin.

There's a difference between a game being in the same genre as others (DMC, GoW, NG) and a game being a direct clone of another (DI, GoW).

Even GameSpot ripped into Dante's Inferno for the games wholely unoriginal ideas in its 6.5 review:

Not that I disagree. GoW > All (IMO).

God or war and DMC are equally beaten by ninja gaiden and godhand. I kid of course, all of them are great series.
