Forums - Gaming - Pachter Predicts Motion Control Winner!

"If price points are high, it is unlikely that Natal or Sony’s motion controller will sell many units; if they are very low, they will sell a lot more."

Way to state the fucking obvious, it's like ABC anaylising for babies.

Nintendo's head start of 67+ million Wiis and 13+ million copies of Wii Sports Resort, and an upcoming Motion+ only Zelda... not a chance.

How the hell is that trolling? it's the truth.

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

And shepherds we shall be,

For Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee And teeming with souls shall it ever be. In Nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritūs Sancti. -----The Boondock Saints

No WAY!!! Pachter is a genius!!!

Long Live SHIO!

I think he was only discussing Sony and MS motion controllers.  I don't think anyone in their right mind would think the two new devices will offer any threat to Nintendo.

It's trolling because Nintendo has no place in this thread that's why.

Surely software will be the deciding factor (unless one has a price that even great software won't save)?

Software is what will make people want the device, price is simply a barrier that can be bigger or smaller but it won't create the desire in the customer in the first place that a Killer-App will.

The most obvious answer is usually the most overlooked one.  Wii wouldn't be half the success it is without Wii Sports or Wii Fit.  Ditto for DS and Brain-Age or Nintendogs.

Microsoft and Sony are both approaching this from a technology standpoint first, not a games standpoint... and that's probably their biggest mistake imo.

Huh? Nintendo is not involved in the motion control wars?

A game I'm developing with some friends:

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.

what does he exactly mean with "uniformed opinion"? they call that "a guess", I think?

Microsoft charges $100 for a Wifi adapter and his guess is they'll charge $50 for a device that's supposed to be breakthrough technology? lol OK, if you say so pal!

Couldn't have said it better myself. Personally, I think both will fail. Based on how most PS3/360 owners are (from personal experience, and most forum goers), we don't look at a half-game with pretty box art and immediately buy it with no regard to what the content is. We looks these things up. And for the most part, although 'some' developers said they've taken interest in either side, none of their heavy hitters look to be supporting them. What's that leave? Mini games and cash ins. PLUS the one thing Pachter did say that was logical....there's no established motion control fan base on either side...so why would developers start making games right now to go alongside the launch of these peripherals? What if no one buys them? Then what?
