Forums - Sales - Wii - Hottest System on eBay

And by a long shot.

I just ran a search to check how the Wii was doing on eBay at the present moment. There are currently 5131 different bids running for the Wii.

This is opposed to 1104 for the PS3 and 3366 for the 360.

Getting more curious, I then checked the types of systems (used, refurbished, new, whatever).

Nearly every single Wii is still brand new, never opened, while the 360s are heavily refurbs and used, although still mostly new. PS3s are mixture, but heavily on the new side.

Lastly, I checked bidding prices. The 360s and PS3s are running mostly on the low side (store-price or lower), while Wiis are still running outrageously above the store price.

I'm not trying to say this as smack against the other two systems, so don't think I'm trying for trollbait (although I know this thread surely will be). I'm just amazed that, a year after launch, it is still selling like this.

Well Nintendo is warning of shortages this holiday

Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)

I think Nintendo should do the iPhone thing: Limit the purchases per person and implement a 'no cash' policy. This way, there will be less buy-it-with-the-intention-of-selling-it-on-ebay-for-a-quick-profit individuals.

No foreign sky protected me,
No stranger's wing shielded my face.
I stand as witness to the common lot,
survivor of that time, that place.

It will be down to the shortage warning Nintendo issued out. I feel really guilty playing my Wii at home when some little kid is gonna be sat on Xmas day wanting a Wii and not getting one with his Mum and Dad saying "we did our best but we couldnt find one". It's really annoying that im thinking like that, just dont like to see people dissapointed.

Yeah but the people who do it on Ebay are just out to fleece people, by selling it at double its actual price

My local “Game” store has a strict one per customer policy. Every Friday morning when I have a quick look in the store it has a number of people waiting to get tickets for that day’s shipment.

Or they could actually be helping people who can't wait in line on Sunday morning.

Some could be, but the majority of ebayers are out to make a quick buck.

Why can't they do both?
