Tycoon games?

Empire total war makes me feel rather poor. I want to build up my property, I still have to get enough funds for an army to guard against Sweden and I also have to get a new army across the ocean on new ships. Mind you, I have almost my full tech-tree maxed out, tradelanes open with practically all of the major powers and I still max out each turn. I get nearly 40K+ florins but for the first few turns I was struggling to make money at all.

How about Fallout: New Vegas? Or Xcom: Ufo Defense?

In what genre do you seek a lack of resources?

Try staying at full health and full ammo in the original Wolfenstein or Doom.
Try affording new armor in the first few Dragon Quest or Final Fantasy games.
Try any SimCity or Civilization game.
Try to buy all the clothes in No More Heroes.

Scratch my last post.  Play X-COM to learn everything about limited resources, including limited amounts of health, time, ammo, fuel, money, psychic powers, and Elerium-115.

Pick a roguelike. Any roguelike.

You'll have all the poverty you want, assuming you live long enough to see your food run out.

EDIT: And X-Com is quite lenient with money as soon as you've researched either motion scanners or laser cannons. Everything else still applies, though.

nah, im enjoying getting games finished

all of that stuff is just a matter of time though. Sure you can try to buy every item in a FF game and that will take a long time but it's not budgeting it's just time wasting. I think he means like RE1 where if you don't conserve your items you die, and resources aren't infinite where you can just keep going back and collecting more until you get something.

When I heard the new fallout has an advanced mode where ammo has weight...  I nearly shit my pants, I had to drop so much in that game to keep from being overcumbered.. ammo has weight now... fun

Resistance had the good old life bar, that only regenerated to a limited amout, and i kept running out of ammo too sometimes, but you get to keep all the weapons you find, so that is not really a problem

Resistance 2 has an Arcade mode that gives you only 3 lives i think.

Or you play Wizardry 8 on the hardest level, then the game doesn't allow you to save at all, only if you stop playing and the save will be deleted when you continue.
