Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo must reinvent Mario for him to survive

*sighs* Article is troll article. I mean, we've got 14 systems hooked up to the TV at present, and we wanted a Wii. "No serious gamer", indeed...

I'm sorry guys, but does no one else see the clear satire here? He's throwing out Mario of War, World of Mariocraft, etc to show the survivability of the Mario franchise and show that he transcends those genres, not seriously say he needs to be reinvented to survive.

Come on now. Learn to take a joke!

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

And shepherds we shall be,

For Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee And teeming with souls shall it ever be. In Nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritūs Sancti. -----The Boondock Saints

At first it seemed like some hardcore was serious, and I have to say, "World of Mariocraft" sounds awesome. Multiplatform Mario? Crap, it really was just humour.

Veder Juda is hand crafted from EPIC FAIL, and is a 96% certified Looney; the other 4% is a work in progress.

I could use a Marionetta game... starring Daisy ofcourse ;)

Ironically, if you follow Game|Life on Wired -- Gus Mastrapa recently complained about how he and his friends (mid-30s) are getting tired of being schooled by teenagers in open FPS matches.

In other words, this is satire because Mario appeals much more to older (and younger) gamers than it does adolescents.

that's not true at all. Mario appeals to a wide range of people. Mario is what brought videogames back to the mainstream, back in the day. You can make fun all you want, but if it wasn't for mario, gameing wouldn't be where it is today.

Let me re-state my point.

Mario appeals more to older and younger gamers than other types of games. The relative appeal of Mario is stronger for these groups than it is for adolescents (or those who think like adolescents).

I am Mario.

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.

They would still probably sell more than their "originals", haha.

"And yet, I've realized that maybe living a "decent" life means you won't ever have a "good" life."

funny read. some of the ideas sound really cool though. I swear companies need to have games wear characters guest star more often.

NINTENDO

nintendo forever . . .
