Ironically, if you follow Game|Life on Wired -- Gus Mastrapa recently complained about how he and his friends (mid-30s) are getting tired of being schooled by teenagers in open FPS matches.

In other words, this is satire because Mario appeals much more to older (and younger) gamers than it does adolescents.

that's not true at all. Mario appeals to a wide range of people. Mario is what brought videogames back to the mainstream, back in the day. You can make fun all you want, but if it wasn't for mario, gameing wouldn't be where it is today.

Let me re-state my point.

Mario appeals more to older and younger gamers than other types of games. The relative appeal of Mario is stronger for these groups than it is for adolescents (or those who think like adolescents).

I am Mario.

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.
