“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

What a slap in the face.

Wow, why make a game that has such a niche appeal. I mean the reason that games like Just Dance do so well is because they can appeal to so many people (and solid marketing of course). Karate though... you pretty much limit yourself to young boys. Why not just make it a vast fighting game with different styles... or fighter trainer. Something that can appeal to a larger audience. Just a bad idea if you ask me.

Throw Piston Hondo in there as a bonus character and it will sell.

Could do 1-2m units if its marketed correctly. Martial Arts is a new genre I actually expected companies to try to tackle immediately on Wii, it seems like a perfect fit to break up the long slog of an RPG or something, or as its own type of game period.

I have a feeling that it's going to bomb.

Something like this would sell millions if they could get Chuck Norris' name and image on the cover though.
