Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Hows the rrod?

I'm considering buying an xbox 360 for exclusives like gears of war 2, alan wake, and halo reach, as well as multipaltforms like splinter cell conviction, and left 4 dead 2. But I'm scared because I don't want a brand new console red ring.

Hows the reliability issue so far? Are the current consoles much more reliable now than previous models? Or are they the same?

They are in fact more reliable and you have a three year warranty so it's not much of an issue any more at all.

The people that talk about RRoD being a problem sound as stupid as the people that say the PS3 have no games. Use to be true for both, not anymore.

Newer consoles are much more reliable and you get 3 years RROD (and E74) warranty.

With the new "Jasper" units, the rrod is almost non existant...like i said "almost"...u should always check if the unit that ur buying is a jasper 1

What about disk read errors, disk scratches, video failure, etc? Are they covered by the warranty?

They're more reliable but a significant percentage is still overheating.

You got 3 years warranty dude, go for it. If it just Rods you'll get it repaired for free, so what's the matter.

The new jasper units are extremely reliable and still have the 3 year warranty to boot. Actually my launch 360 just got the RROD again today... :( and its out of warranty. Oh well thank goodness there's 2 other xbox's in my apartment :)

Everything except the disc scratches should be and the only people that get disc scratches are the people dumb enough to move the 360 while the disc is spinning.

Again, I would worry about it.

and twesterm was once more faster.....

But I think disk read errors, video failures and other things are only covered by a 2 years warranty.

And yes you should worry about it

Nice stealthily being stealthy.
