I don't care about the score. As it will not reflect my opinion of the game or even defer me from buying it. But it seriously just really pisses me off how reviewers are having double standards against JRPGs but all these other genres are getting free passes. |
If they are "pissing you off" with their opinion, you do in fact care about it.

2D to 3D is graphical changes (as well as CGI), and considering most of FFVII was still 2D movement, it really didn't effect gameplay. Materia is basically a smarter Esper system, not that big of a change when you consider the systems in the games before VI and VII. The experience in FFVI is VERY different then FFVII, but the major evolution in gameplay was FFVIII. |
i understand what you're trying to say...but i dont quite think you are understanding my point of view...i'm saying gameplay itself isn't the only factor to being a evolution in making an rpg game or any game for that matter....as i state b4...a game going from 2d to 3d is a big evolution...and in some very rare case....going from 3d to 2d can be called an evolution...
so if we take in what you said...we can just go back to making ff14 a 2d game and it won't affect anything at all....and it won't be called de-evolving because you said it hasn't evolved...
also i dont think anyone here would agree ffvii was a 2d movement...there was no block space you move to and from....i remember clearly you can move diagonally very little or alot...run or walk....those definitely were not of 2d movement....

The camera didn't rotate as you moved, and think about the Mythril Mines when I say 2D movement. The only movement that felt like 3D was when the movement plane was tilted, but even then it was still a flat plane, just flipped around to match the backdrops. Also, since when could 2D games not have diagonal movement?
@ivor
damn you just completely do not understand what i'm saying....let's make this simple...is ff7 3d?? YES....is FF7 2d??...NO maybe just the background....even till this day alot of game still do that....so a 2d background still does not make a game 2d...
if you still dont understand...are the characters rendered in 3d?..yes
are the enviroment rendered in 3d?? yes...this might answer ur mithril mines area...it's still 3d..it's just triggered differently for you to walk to and from the platform of rocks..resident evil 2 didn't have camera rotation...and that was 3d...
what about it is 2d???...i have explained in previous post...read it..if you still dont understand...ask someone else....i dont know how much more explaining i could do to get it for you to understand...
and about the diagonal movement...i'm talking about the blocks...which i already explained...which you still haven't seem to understand...
one last thing...there are parts of uncharted 1 and 2 that play very similar to mithril mines area....i guess that would make uncharted the same thing??...2d movement??...
Pingu said: another fantastic Heavy Rain review though! |
OT: Yup, heavy Rain seems to be getting some very good reviews. I am looking forward to trying Heavy Rain out.
Back on topic, this is the first of many reviews do not get yourselves tied up into fits over one reviewer disliking FFXIII.
